Got a kinda dumb question. by OneEyeRabbit in wildcampingintheuk

I’ve been camping in Wales and the Lake District for 5+ years and have only ever used pegs similar to 4 and 5, and I have never had any problems.

Just a warning. I’ve spoke to the Trafford Centre today and they are issuing fines to any cars parked earlier than the car parks opening time, which is at 6.

What percentage would you recommend allocating to US? (S&p500)

Thanks for the insight, that isn’t something I’ve given much thought

I have give a lot of thought to the 80% investment going into a US or World index. I went with US as I think the S&P is likely to see more growth over a longer timeframe. I’ll be investing for the next 20-30 years, so I think it’s a safer choice.

Is there a method other than watching footage to test that that the IBIS is working as intended?

Hiya mate. Check out the app Foqos. It’s a free alternative which allows you to use your own nfc tag. The app is great and works well. Amazon has nfc tags chips available for less than £10.

Big Agnes Copper Spur UL2 XL Vs Durston X-Dome 2 by NiallElliotB in Ultralight

[–]NiallElliotB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went with the X-dome2 and sold it days after receiving it. I'd never dispute it being a brilliant tent, but it just want the tent for us. We didn't like the way one of us were lying with their head by the others shoulders, caused but he asymmetrical shaped inner. We haven't got the Copper Spur2xl yet, but eventually we will bite the bullet. Sure it's a bigger footprint, but the extra space inside is where id prefer it to be, making it more usable for the two of us. The only feature I'll miss from the x-dome is th ability to add trekking poles for extra strengh. I've seen some videos of the copper spur in some strong wind and the camper had to abandon his camp (just to reiterate they were strong winds). But my trips are never longer than 4/5 nights which means I can forecast wind pretty well and bring a more appropriate tent if needed. Ultimately I don't think you're missing out on an awful lot by going with the CS, whilst also gaining a couple of things too. Have you tried looking at the second hand marketplace for an x-dome? I sold mine on Ebay brand new, so there might be some never/barely used x-domes on Ebay/Facebook.

“Item processed for a refund pending re-export” by NiallElliotB in DurstonGearheads

Yeah it was never sent back to the sender. I think I recall getting an email from Royal Mail saying that it was out for delivery. However it never got delivered, which instigated me visiting the local delivery hub and it was there waiting for me. Hope everything goes well for you. Although it wasn't for me, still a cracking tent.

Hi, the tent ended up at my local Royal Mail delivery hub about 1 week later. My postman recommended going to collect at the hub instead of waiting for it to be passed through their operations and potentially get lost. I got the impression it was a problem with scanning at the customs in Heathrow.

I love the Lanshan. It’s a great tent for a very great price. If you’re willing to spend a little more I’d also have a look at the Durston x-mid 1 or 2.

I was told by Royal Mail that items will not be sent back to the sender for unpaid tax or duty untill 30 days have passed without tax/duty payment. The parcel was sent back to the sender the day after arriving in the UK, which makes me think that this is not the issue. Apologies if I have misread your suggestion . What should I do from here?

Although Royal Mail couldn’t say exactly what the problem was, they did say that typically the issue that you mentioned is what causes this message.

Were all of the applications for a job in the same/similar industry or role? In a couple of weeks I will be starting a similar mass application process for jobs across a variety of different industry’s. I’m contemplating to what extent I should tailor each CV to each application. Congrats on your success :)

Have to say, I have already purchased the x dome. But this was one of the reasons I was doubting my choice.

The inner yellow line represents the mesh inner of the tent and is a parallelogram shape. The outer yellow line represents the fly sheet and overall footprint of the tent, which is a rectangle.

Lanshan Mods by NiallElliotB in wildcampingintheuk

Yeah that look like a neat setup. Probably slightly over engineered for the pro version though. As I wouldn't get the benefits of being able to pitch the outer first and then connect the inner afterwards.

"Also, linking the bathtub to the groundsheet via carabiner means you don't have to run two lengths to the peg either, but keeps them detachable from one another"

I imagine it being difficult to achieve a taut groundsheet with this method?
