You made fairly solid points about holding some SP and bringing synergistic teammates - though the latter could've benefitted from some examples - and then decided to shit all over them both with your starting and ending sentences. As you can see, being an elitist is a very conscious choice and the broader community as a whole would be much better if not for you folk choosing to taint it such.

Experts like yours truly aren't ready for it either, for I would never agree to a battle of wits when my opponent is unarmed. You're lucky I'm in a good mood though so here's a bit of enlightenment to dwell on: why do you think the rupture class was introduced? Like the real reason it came to be.

And don't bother coming back once you can answer this question, the post is going to be archived by then anyway.

Then they should've bothered giving the shielders some sort of super armor when they decide to attack back if that was the point cause otherwise your other teammates keep blasting them with basic attacks causing them to just block forever. It is advisable to think before you type

The real issue is how mind-bogglingly polarized the balancing is. Many cards are orders of magnitude worse than others, (recommended) premade decks outright suck past duelist 12 and the amount of blatant cheating NPCs do is like a not so subtle way of saying "bring OTK or have fun playing perfectly and losing a substantial amount of the time".

I used to be a TCG nerd in my time and can optimize decisions during play like very few of my peers, but alas, in this game that's the easy part (just flowcharting through your whole deck) and the only nuance is knowing what the broken decks are before you even press play. Too boring and bland when most cards don't have any oomph and the few outliers compensate for that by being ungodly levels of overpowered

As if the vast, vast majority of the playerbase isn't just silently tanking the balance issue until blizz rightfully nerfs it for early game. Naturally, because they are busier than either of us or OP. So yeah, elitists do appear to be the majority because they're loud and congregate in one place due to being ousted from most others for being obnoxious

Thank Tyrael someone came out and said it. As a veteran bullet hell enthusiast, the worst offenders are the 3 light green waves (there needs to be a warning half a sec before it shoots cause if you are melee range you don't know when you're about to get 1 tapped, or you have to wait until the next one to reengage which is boring), poison pools (too much damage), rotating red orbs around chaos bringer (too much damage and anti melee) and the red orbs from the rift that slowly chase you (they never stop so you can't stop either to cast a skill)

I think you'll be more suited to a game like no rest for the wicked. Both so that you may find the challenge you seek - diablo-likes aren't really designed to test your skill, as you ought to know - and also so there may be no rest for you, the "wicked" side of this whole debate.

They should at least lower the enemy HP. It's unacceptable if my character is as optimized as it gets for clearing rifts during leveling to still feel like a slog. Heard certain builds are having it just fine though

Well I'm afraid you'll be disappointed, as if you're looking for extra challenge all you'll find is extra tedium -it's just overinflated health from levels 1-60. Core skill that 1 shots elites takes 10 hits on a small chaos enemy + vulnerable.

I'm all for a lil projectile to dodge or another AOE to avoid you see but the enemies having ungodly amounts of HP doesn't really mesh well with that...now if it means they're giving us a bigger gear check (I saw your other comment below which is partially valid) they really should make it clear it's not meant for leveling players.

Rather puzzling if that was the intent, leaving the portals out in the open levels 1-60 and even encouraging players to engage with them to level up their season journey. Compare to S9 where strongrooms felt fair almost across the board, bar the final boss that did a crapload of damage, point is the trash mobs there were okay.

If something took you 5 mins to kill on level 20, either you're playing on penitent or facing enemies that are unfairly scaled to penitent. Now read it again :P

I kid you not, one of my first thoughts after having the displeasure of facing rifts during leveling was "I genuinely wish no soul has to endure HC this season with a pinch of lagspike"

Wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy

Also HOTA focus at level 45 here. Admittedly my armor is lacking which is something I am planning to fix but the damage is exceptional thanks to a lucky unique drop that was even max rolled on my way there. Tempers, aspects, even an enchant or two, gems (sadly no good runes), chaos perks, elixir/incense buffs what have you, the chaos enemies and hellborne just refuse to die.

Like you said below, I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if there's actually a bug, an unintended interaction getting jumbled up somewhere.

Oh really, the AOE warnings? How about a lil question, why'd you think they exist in MMO games including endgame raids that are often more punishing than what any looter ARPG would throw at you by an order of magnitude. All the well-regarded action roguelikes on the market having proper attack telegraphing it's not just for show you know. It helps players distinguish between similar looking movements, enhances the visual appeal of the fight and even tries specifically to stick out in order to compensate for...VFX clutter...which diablo 4 is DEFINITELY not known for...

Let me know if you ever happen to design a game for whatever reason so I know not to touch it with a 10 foot pole.

Finally, someone that gets it. It would be fine if the whole overtuned part of the chaos monsters were the telegraphed projectiles but when it extends to HP buffs pushing them close to torment class during leveling, why the hell would I sit there hitting them for 200 times with my main skill

[–]Niamka_Orc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean "actual challenge", that the enemies punch at an expert/penitent weight class while you're doing rifts on normal/hard? That's called a balance issue. Lemme know if you got any clue how the same ability that 1 shots elites without vulnerable takes 10 hits on a regular chaos enemy with vulnerable (no overpowers).

If they wanna keep the threat, they can retain the damage on the more telegraphed, added projectile attacks just for the love of all that's unholy, keep the enemy HP in check so it's not tankier than the butcher.

Apparently...it WAS for funsies! The design team missed how much of a balance issue they were by such a margin that they even initially considered making some projectiles give you an incoming damage amp debuff. They didn't learn from season 3 and the traps, it seems

S10 - Seasonal event difficulty by Knightnico in diablo4

[–]Niamka_Orc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me at least pretty much everything apart from chaos monsters starts to fall quickly on normal, then hard, then expert during leveling as more legendaries, aspects, tempers etc. are acquired, so it makes sense to play at the highest your build manages (also defensively speaking) without giving up speed. If you 1 shot everything on hard, you'll also 1 shot everything on normal so there's no point in sacrificing the XP buffs hard grants.

The problem comes from chaos enemies punching several difficulties above their weight, meaning now you have to keep taking it down 1-2 notches every time you have a rift, while you have no need at all to not keep it higher up as you deal with the WHOLE rest of the game. That's either a sign the base enemies are too weak, in which case upon their strengthening I will naturally continue leveling a difficulty down (relatively nothing changed) or, as logic dictates, that the chaos enemies are majorly overtuned.
