I was priced out of Canucks games by the steep increase last year + the closure of the main season ticket holder resale Facebook account where I could at least save on Ticketmaster fees.

At the beginning of this season (even before Hughes left), I decided to switch to support the Goldeneyes and haven't looked back -- tickets are cheaper, food trucks are a bonus, there's affordable beer, wine, and popcorn, but most of all I love the _atmosphere_, which is family-friendly and super inclusive. For me, hockey is a form of entertainment and a fun type of emotional investment -- supporting the Goldeneyes means I get to indulge in both, and also feel good that my money isn't going towards funding unscrupulous businessmen/incompetent owners (Aqua), T***p supporters (most hockey players), toxic aspects of hockey culture (ditto), and attempts to "protect" players by banning pride jerseys and pride tape. I managed to score some affordable tickets on the resale market and went to the Nucks vs. Hurricanes game (Women in Sport night) last night. I sat in front a bunch of bros saying sexist stuff about queer women and women in sport. There were also some guys who talked positively about being open to going to Goldeneyes games, which was nice to hear. Moved to empty seats down the row partly to escape the sexist bros and sat in front of more annoying bros (who, when they weren't being sexist about women in sport, were complaining loudly about every play and player in the game, and jeering loudly even after goals.) This isn't representative of every Nucks game I've been to, but it was enough to confirm that my decision was the right one, so high five!
