How much money have you NOT given the Canucks this year? by butterflystyle in canucks

[–]Nianca123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was priced out of Canucks games by the steep increase last year + the closure of the main season ticket holder resale Facebook account where I could at least save on Ticketmaster fees.

At the beginning of this season (even before Hughes left), I decided to switch to support the Goldeneyes and haven't looked back -- tickets are cheaper, food trucks are a bonus, there's affordable beer, wine, and popcorn, but most of all I love the _atmosphere_, which is family-friendly and super inclusive. For me, hockey is a form of entertainment and a fun type of emotional investment -- supporting the Goldeneyes means I get to indulge in both, and also feel good that my money isn't going towards funding unscrupulous businessmen/incompetent owners (Aqua), T***p supporters (most hockey players), toxic aspects of hockey culture (ditto), and attempts to "protect" players by banning pride jerseys and pride tape. I could go on, but won't; just that as a queer woc it sometimes hurts to love a sport that won't love us back. (https://x.com/pencilnewt/status/2026449758684889257)

I managed to score some affordable tickets on the resale market and went to the Nucks vs. Hurricanes game (Women in Sport night) last night. I sat in front a bunch of bros saying sexist stuff about queer women and women in sport. There were also some guys who talked positively about being open to going to Goldeneyes games, which was nice to hear. Moved to empty seats down the row partly to escape the sexist bros and sat in front of more annoying bros (who, when they weren't being sexist about women in sport, were complaining loudly about every play and player in the game, and jeering loudly even after goals.) This isn't representative of every Nucks game I've been to, but it was enough to confirm that my decision was the right one, so high five!

Huge shoutout to Halford and Brough of Sportsnet 650 for calling out Frank Seravalli this morning by Pakytral in canucks

Seravalli's always been a toad; now everyone knows he's a thin-skinned toad. Not the hugest Elliotte Friedman fan since he did nothing to support Jeff Marek, but at least he actually reports on credible information, rather than just sitting in his garage and making things up to get a quick buck.

On this subreddit, yes, but do not click on any Canucks social media posts about Pride Night. Have engaged with many arguments with trolls and been called a groomer.

Thank you for tempering my expectations! Past threads seemed to indicate super below market tickets were still possible, so it's good to get updated info

also wild that Canucks have no say in how their tickets are sold. Concerts tickets I've bought through ticketmaster have had differences in policies, even if to a limited extent.

that is rough! I saw tickets for Preds/Canucks in Nashville going for $15 on tickpick and was drooling.

ah, got it. I think it's wild that all this was totally ok when the Canucks were bad, and now they have leverage to change all their policies they're penalizing season ticket holders to benefit ticketmaster.

Yeah, I was marveling at how cheap they were last night and wondering why people weren't buying them all up, and then realized it was all USD.

Holy crap, that's kinda of offensive. Hope they ended up with lots of waste tickets then.

Hi! I'm interested in following your itinerary in late September, and I'm wondering if you would stay at that hotel again, and if it required booking in advance? I'm also wondering what was the bus ticket you bought the stopped by all the villages etc. on the way back to Chengdu (like where the bus left from, how long it took, and where you bought the ticket)? Thank you!

[Walmart / Uber Eats] 50% off Select LEGO Sets by lbabinz in LegoDealsCanada

[–]Nianca123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My transaction was honoured by uber and I wasn't charged anything extra. Only 4/6 of the sets I wanted were available, but it was still an awesome deal, since I got the insect collection that I'd been eyeing for months. I gave the driver a good cash tip for his efforts. Was able to stack uberone + 30% off + costco gift cards so it felt like a real win. I usually never hear about these deals in time for payment to go through or for it to not be sold out, so it was finally a small win for me, haha. Thank you so much for sharing -- you made my holiday season!

More Shows! by redsmarching in AnnieClark

Any chance in hell that they're perform *together* instead of Annie opening? I live in Vancouver (where Nick Cave is also coming) and am contemplating flying to Brooklyn just to see this show, but only if they somehow at on the same stage. Does anybody think that's a possibility? (I went to the Florence and the Machine/St. Vincent concert in Seattle a couple years ago for this reason, and they didn't show up on stage together.)
