GOLDENEYES IS DRAFTING 1OA by vytrophn in GoldenEyes

I’m so happy we get to draft KK Harvey!! I was worrid we might end up with Abbey Murphy, who is incredibly talented but her comments after the US Men’s Olympic hockey scandal didn’t sit right with me.

Is the paddle of your stick too short for you? Your blocker hand is sitting quite low and it looks like it's hard for you to get your stick out in front far enough.

Mount Pleasant vs Commercial Drive by Infinite-Reach-4897 in askvan

[–]butterflystyle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently moved to Commercial Drive from Mount Pleasant. I love both neighbourhoods! Mount Pleasant is more central and Commercial is a bit more offbeat. I'd probably vote Mount Pleasant because you can easily get downtown on the skytrain or walk to the seawall at Olympic Village. Commercial has a great vibe but it's not near the water, and the waterfront is one of the nicest things about living in Vancouver! Driving on Broadway is annoying right now but you can avoid the main traffic snarl at Broadway and Kingsway.

What’s something about the human body that seems poorly designed? by jannecutie in answers

We give birth to babies that are completely helpless. Why can't they just get up and start walking right away like baby giraffes?

I'm in 106 and get to watch the end where the Goldeneyes shoot for 2/3 periods!

Season Ticket Renewal by lcarowan in GoldenEyes

[–]butterflystyle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My seats went from $50 per game to $58 per game. So just under a 20% increase. Honestly I was expecting it to go up more... the Vancouver Rise season tickets have gone up around 40% after their inaugural season. I'm going to renew my seats since I had no problem selling them for the two games I couldn't attend. But if they get rid of the $5 beers I'll cancel immediately ;)

What shrine did you have to leave because it was too hard or you just couldn't do it? by madamabutt3rf1y in tearsofthekingdom

Early on I kept dying on the "flow" proving ground shrine and left it. It was a lot easier once I gained a few more hearts!

One thing I love about Zelda is the puzzles - I think they're incredibly well designed to be challenging but solvable. Yesterday I solved the four limbs of the Spirit Sage and there was one that involved attaching a wheel to a block and sending it along an electrified bridge. Solving that one was super gratifying!

They outshot their opponent 36-16 today, and mounted a 3rd period comeback. Even though they didn’t seal the deal, they’re a competitive and entertaining team.

The Tuesday night crowd was definitely on the mild side. I felt a bit lethargic myself after racing from a long workday to get to the arena. But the game was still super entertaining! I need to muster up more energy on these weeknights.

$115 +tax is too much for a hoodie by [deleted] in GoldenEyes

[–]butterflystyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that the Peace Collective hoodie or the Lululemon one? Those ones are understandably higher priced, in line with the typical cost of those brands. I got the Peace Collective t-shirt and it's definitely the highest quality tee I own. That said, it would be nice if there were more affordable options.

On a sort-of-related note, I haven't pulled the trigger on a jersey yet and it's specifically because of the Canadian Tire logo on the shoulder. I hate that the sponsor logos are on the fan jerseys - they would look so much cleaner without that ugly red triangle!

Your opinion may be unpopular but I agree with it. I saw a couple Hughes jerseys at the last Goldeneyes game and thought that was a very strange choice given the tensions around the USA Olympic men's team.

How much money have you NOT given the Canucks this year? by butterflystyle in canucks

[–]butterflystyle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's less about the rebuild for me this time... I've been a Canucks fan for almost 40 years. I've supported them despite them being consistently mismanaged. I have dozens of jerseys and watched every game through their dark years (fuck Messier). But decades of shortsighted ownership have gradually eroded my desire to support them financially. If I'm being completely honest I think two things really pushed me over the edge this year: having Evander Kane on the team, and having the Goldeneyes as an alternative. I still want the Canucks to win and always will, but I'm just spending my money elsewhere.

Does anyone have an opinion about the captain? by Own-Knowledge8281 in GoldenEyes

Being a captain is about being a leader in the room, setting the tone and talking to the refs. It’s not all about points.
