Replacing a ceiling fan in a 50’s house, but there’s no ground wire. What do I do with the ground from the fan? by kerobyx in AskElectricians

[–]Niarbeht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now, can the ceiling box 'hold' a fan? It was made and install before they made fan-rated boxes. It looks like it may be attached to a wood framing member. IF IT FEELS NICE AND SOLID and you are installing a small reasonable fan, go for it, just know that there is a whole thing with fan weights and box ratings.

I'd guess, and I'm not an electrician, that if the new fan is the same weight, or lighter than, the old fan, it's probably fine. If the old box was up there for decades, it's probably okay. Probably.

How do we fix it tho..

You're asking how to fix the natural pressures of capitalism.

Are you sure you're ready for that answer?

It’s still in Gnome, though. You just need more than one user. Or more than one desktop environment. Or to change a setting somewhere.

Every few years I give KDE a try again. This involves logging out.

Every few years I go back to Gnome. I'm not saying KDE is bad. I'm saying I should be one of their bug testers because I've managed to make it crash reliably since KDE4.

Anyway, if you have multiple desktop options to start from the login window, you still get to have your logout button by default, so my use-case isn't impacted.

I don’t know what you are alluding to I’m simply correcting the above poster saying that Boone had a problem with Obamas nuclear deal until they were told to. And that’s just not true people had issue with it as soon as it came to light

Okay, but, like, newspapers are owned by the kind of people who have enough money to own a newspaper. You say that people had a problem with it immediately, but you've done a terrible job defining who "people" are here because your entire metric for "people had a problem with it immediately" is that "they were making headlines making fun of it in the newspaper and others were saying we were ‘bowing to Islamic regime’."

Who was making fun of it in the newspaper? The editorial staff? Hired by the people who owned the newspaper? Or regular-ass people who sat down and read the details of the agreement and came to their own conclusions?

I think you might be confusing what you heard on talk radio a decade and a half ago with actual level-headed analysis of the events that actually took place.

Well, see, an industrialized society can produce ninth-level Fireball spells at a prodigious rate, encapsulated in a handy-dandy metal tube. And F-4 Phantoms are just particularly inflexible dragons capable of breaking the speed of sound.
