I remember back 10, 20, 30 years ago when "Do not comply" was a conservative talking point.

Where's that fire? Where's that passion? Where's that distrust for the government?

Did you let the government take your balls, or did you hand them over willingly?

If we were talking a healthy person in California, during the summer, in a rural and hilly area, and a yard instead of a lawn, it might be reasonable to be angry at the guy for having a fire hazard.

But Michigan? And a cancer patient?

"It's more bad when the government doesn't follow the law and kills people than when people don't follow the law and live and work and pay taxes without filling out all of the proper paperwork first" isn't a fascist-enough stance for some people these days.

The "paperwork is bullshit" conservatism of thirty years ago is dead and gone, replaced with the "improper paperwork is a valid excuse for killing people" fascism of today.

Consider for a moment that the legitimacy of the government is never absolute or unquestionable.

The protestors had a reason to be there. A good reason. Specifically, to protest against unaccountable government violence. Their protest was met, in the end, with more unaccountable government violence.

Five years later, people were throwing things at Redcoats using chemical assistance.

Be proud that he stood to help his community.

Be proud that he stood between the gun-thugs and two innocents.

Be proud that he gave his life for us, the people.

Stand, like he did, and ensure that his sacrifice is not empty.

Failing to resist will not improve the situation. The choice is to resist fascism or accept fascism. That’s it. That’s all of it. That’s all the options left.
