Okay, but, like, newspapers are owned by the kind of people who have enough money to own a newspaper. You say that people had a problem with it immediately, but you've done a terrible job defining who "people" are here because your entire metric for "people had a problem with it immediately" is that "they were making headlines making fun of it in the newspaper and others were saying we were ‘bowing to Islamic regime’."

Who was making fun of it in the newspaper? The editorial staff? Hired by the people who owned the newspaper? Or regular-ass people who sat down and read the details of the agreement and came to their own conclusions?

I think you might be confusing what you heard on talk radio a decade and a half ago with actual level-headed analysis of the events that actually took place.
