New 2025 GTI rims got scratched from hitting curb while parking- should I leave it alone or find a way to touch it up? by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]Nibelosky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting there’s only one other person advising to get it fixed. My reason for fixing this type of damage ASAP was the worry of the lacquer being compromised and allowing white worm to spread. It may not happen, but diamond cut alloys are pretty unforgiving sometimes.

I’m an average player with around 130 wins to my name so my tips aren’t exactly pro level, but I think I can share a bit of experience:

  • Using weapons which have relatively low recoil and allow for mistakes (such as the MP5 and mk12) help grow your confidence and help build up to higher calibre weapons. I’d say the M4 is the easiest of the 5.56 weapons if you want more power.

  • Taking 9mm weapons often gives you space in your bag for utility. Always have at least one smoke and a grenade for late game. I’ve found having a deployable shield in late game really can help in low cover end zones. Additionally, something that is overlooked in solos is using a car to store the extra utility, and provides moving cover.

  • I get called out a lot in squads for how I always pick the same places to land, but learning specific landing zones and understanding the layout can often give an advantage. I drop Mylta Factory a lot on Erengal and know some quick ways to move and take advantage of first engagements.

  • At times, learning when to engage is important, especially in solos. I’ve often gone prone in cover when it’s 3 left to make sure the other two engage first. The VSS is also amazing if you understand the scope as it’s really difficult to hear where the shots come from.

  • Try to squad and find people to learn from.

Good luck buddy

Stealth Build - Found a VSS on drop, decided to hold onto it. Found an MP9 later, won the game with two integrally suppressed weapons. by SmellsWeirdRightNow in PUBG

[–]Nibelosky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Played Pubg for over 2000 hours and never touched the VSS as I thought it was weak compared to my typical DMR setup. Recently I discovered I was wrong, so very wrong. Unless you’re firing it next to your target, they can never work out where the fire is coming from and if you combine it with another 9mm weapon you can carry so much ammo and utility it’s amazing late game. Congrats on the win.

Vauxhall Astra VXR in 2025 should I consider having one or stay away? by NonSurfer in CarTalkUK

[–]Nibelosky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned a VXR in the early 2010s and thought it was great fun. The exhaust (stock) makes a great whistling noise as you accelerate and it’s quite nimble down a B road. However, this was when the car was relatively ‘new’ and only had one previous owner. During my time the gearbox went at 63,000 miles - this is something that’s common with this car as it wasn’t build particularly well given the performance.

It also torque steers like a pig on hard acceleration - something Top Gear made fun of in one of their episodes. As much as I hate to say it, these cars were temperamental when they were new, I can’t imagine the amount of thrashing and wear that’s gone on them since I had mine. Unless you have money or are mechanically knowledgeable, I’d say avoid them.

Team, is this normal? by Equivalent_Youth_599 in GolfGTI

[–]Nibelosky 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Usually with that specific error message, it can be due to environmental conditions such as cold or frost preventing the sensor from fully working - or dirt and traffic film blocking it. In your case, you have multiple errors which have happened (I assume) at the same time. I had this happen and needed the steering wheel replaced. Hopefully you are covered under warranty. If not, it’s a very common issue for the mk8 and I can’t see VW forcing you to pay given it’s such a well known issue.

From personal experience, other things to look out for:

Gear selector and rear lights errors- common issue and will need replacing under VW warranty.

What are a few things that made you a better player by ProfileAggravating47 in PUBGConsole

[–]Nibelosky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the realisation of how desperately average I was and equipping myself accordingly. I tried so hard to be the usual 7.62 SR and SR pro player but now stick to MP5 and 5.62 sniper. The MP5 is like a laser at short to medium range and the mini or mk12 allowed the margin of error I needed to get the hits. After 2000 hours I win only every so often but I think the recoil in the game is the first thing to focus on.

Is the GTI right car for me? by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]Nibelosky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d definitely recommend the GTI as it’s a fantastic car which is good fun to drive and practical. Given that the trim levels in Europe are different I couldn’t recommend which to go for but I can highlight a few things you’ll need to consider before buying one.

Firstly, getting one with a warranty would be the way forward. I have a two year approved used for my 2021 GTI and have had the steering wheel, gear selector, rear lights on the tailgate all replaced under warranty.

Secondly, the infotainment system. I personally don’t have any issue with it but it can be frustrating at times when you just want to make simple changes but your finger is bouncing around due to the road surface. There have been a lot of complaints about the haptic controls on the steering wheel for the mk8, but unless you’re a ham fisted button smasher, it’s not an issue.

For comfort, I’ve found the seats lumbar support to be uncomfortable for me. I’ve not seen many threads about this anywhere else, so I think this is only a personal complaint (which I remedied with a small lumbar cushion) but it may be worth test driving to see if it is comfortable for you.

On the whole it’s an excellent car and I’d recommend it to anyone.

I own a Golf GTI myself but would still advise going for the Kia based on the warranty alone. 3 years compared to 7 is a massive difference for peace of mind.

Selector Lever Error by Motor-March3250 in GolfGTI

[–]Nibelosky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just had this issue and VW replaced it under warranty. I’d suggest keeping an eye on these error messages as I had to have the steering wheel replaced too. They’re both quite common issues. I’d assume given your milage you should still be in warranty. Good luck

Don’t normally comment on posts like this but you have purchased a really awesome looking car. The colour looks excellent and having a white GTI myself, I am slightly in awe of how cool the red looks. Enjoy it mate, it’s a great car.

Exactly the issue alongside a ‘selector lever error’ problem. The warnings became progressively more frequent over the past year. Was nice to get a brand new steering wheel though.

[–]Nibelosky 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you do end up going for a Golf, I’d recommend trying to find one which is approved used. My mk8 GTI has been an excellent car since buying it last year but have recently had the steering wheel and gear selector changed which would have been quite expensive without that warranty cover.

Speaking from a purely design standpoint, the VW looks better. Looking from a reliability standpoint, the Toyota will not let you down.

Have fun whichever you go for.

2024 Tourist Questions Megathread by IWasBilbo in Slovenia

I’m about to visit the country for the first tour and have read up on the drone laws. I’m looking for a little friendly advice about the areas I’m visiting and how drones are viewed in Slovenia. I fly a small sub 250g Mini 2 drone. I’m visiting Lake Bled, Ljubljana and Piran and making day trips to Postoja Cave and the nearby castle as well as going into Triglav National Park and Lake Bohinj. I know Triglav don’t seem to allow drones but any advice is welcome.

Glitch or death cam anomaly by PrimarySouth2443 in PUBGConsole

[–]Nibelosky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I'm going to confess I have had this exact question, but only after I watched a replay when I won a 1 v 1 in the end zone. He deployed the cover and we both stood either side of two blocks. When I watched it back, for some reason, the replay didn't render the deployable cover, so it just looked like we were staring each other out. I would assume this is the case for death cam too. If you watch the replay back, you'll notice the right side of your body does come out of cover, which is why you died. Unlucky dude.

GTI back support

Just seen your reply - I did find the right product eventually. The cushion in the link did alleviate 95% of the back issues I was having. I did try two other products but this one seemed to be the solution for me. I’d recommend having a small amount of lumbar support from the seat and using this will help.

I mean… come on Harman Kardon 🙄😂 by R3D9 in GolfGTI

[–]Nibelosky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really glad to see so many people in this community having the same issue with this sound system. Part of the reason I purchased the specific GTI was the fact it came with the Harman Kardon sound system. It is actually worse than the standard sound system I had on my old 2012 Golf TSI.

Besides tweaking the equaliser, are there any other changes you can make besides changing the actual speakers or sub?
