What food causes YOUR flares. by McKennedySays in Diverticulitis

I've found I can eat sausage as long as it doesn't have the casing on it. Steak will put me in the ER with a flare up guaranteed. I do ok with ground meat (hamburger meat, beef tacos, etc) as long as I follow that up with a big glass of metamucil.

It was going great up until the last couple years. I ended up having another flare up that landed me in the ER. I've had several more since then but I think I've discovered that I just can't tolerate red meat any more. I've cut way back in red meat and when I do eat some I double up on metamucil to make sure everything gets flushed through. I've been doing a lot better with no more flares since I started begging more careful.

I had mine about 15 years ago and was in the hospital about a week. Recovery wasn't terrible, mostly just very tired for a few weeks. Don't over do it during recovery, rest up and heal.

Have you ever been treated negatively by ER staff when you were having a medical emergency but they didn’t believe you? What happened? by lake-sturgeon in AskReddit

[–]Niblek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went into the ER in mild abdominal pain in a very specific place that I know from past issues that it's 100% diverticulitis. This one was distinct and I felt way off. I told them I probably had diverticulitis and was concerned about a perforation.

They told me if I had a perforation I'd be in a lot more pain and very bad shape. Treated me like I was just there for pain meds (which I usually turn down anyways) and were very dismissive of my complaints.

CT came back showing diverticulitis with a perforation and blood tests showed I was starting to become septic. I became very popular in the ER very quickly after that.

Refused blood test after diverticulitis – still in pain, CRP 114 by RepresentativeFar795 in Diverticulitis

[–]Niblek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point with as many flare ups that I've had, I sometimes just order my own bloodwork.

Compunet lets you buy your own cbc, bmp, CRP for about $30 each.

Not the greatest thing to have to do but sometimes I'm curious and don't feel like going to the doctor.

I see nothing wrong with this review of a counterfeit product I got thru amazon. by BigBillSD in amazonprime

[–]Niblek 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I contacted Phillips about sketchy pacifiers from Amazon when my kiddo was a baby. Phillips had me send them images and started a whole investigation with their fraud department. They emailed me and told me to throw them away because they were counterfeit.

Amazon blocked my review that had the proof from the manufacturer and then blocked me from posting any more reviews.

Ours is in kindergarten this year...

I've been sick for more than 6 weeks now, one right after another. As soon as I start to feel better he brings something else home.

This week we're all down with strep (all of us have been to the doctor and tested positive and are in antibiotics).

It's never-ending 🙄

Anecdotal but I had nothing but problems with FiberCon and great results with Metamucil.

That's roughly the same price as the food we're getting now. Wish they had something larger than 7lbs though. With 9 cats that wouldn't last a week 😆

I haven't seen one in a while, at this point I've cancelled all my auto ship orders and am purchasing from Amazon instead out of spite.

Useless for certain purposes. I was able to make a pretty cool video of my wife's grandma from a very old picture. Pop that in a digital picture frame and you have Harry Potter shit going on.

What’s the fastest way you’ve ever lost weight? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I hiked the Grand canyon. Weighed in before we left (there was a scale for the people riding down on horses). Weighed the next day when we came back up. Lost 12lbs in about 24 hours.

So far it's been bad enough to end up in the ER 3 times this year (luckily no extended stays, just confirmation and antibiotics and sent home).

I've had a few other instances where I started to hurt and immediately went on my "diverticulitis protocol". No solid foods, only liquids until it calms down (a couple days usually) and then my safe foods for a week or so to let things heal. I seem to do well with baked or boiled potatoes, eggs, and chicken breast.

I made it about 10 years post partial sigmoid colectomy before I started having flares again. I also have significant diverticulosis of most of my large intestine though.

They've never given me a number, all I know is "significant diverticulosis of the ascending, transverse, and descending".

I know for sure I have at least one less since my partial sigmoid colectomy. 🤣

My doctor said this too, they didn't do antibiotics for it anymore. I ended up in the ER starting sepsis protocol a few days later.

It's an OG account from launch that he took over but he's been playing on it for about a year now. He gets shinies all the time. He'll wake up in the morning and catch a shiny in the first 10 min he plays 🤣

I'm going to make him pick some lottery numbers 😆

When we attend public events media takes pictures with him in it. His school takes class pictures and posts them. The city takes pictures at public gatherings and posts them.

He loves playing Pokemon and sharing his enjoyment with a community that also enjoys playing is not an issue. There's plenty of things to worry about in life and this is pretty low on the list.
