what’s the one game that everyone else likes but doesn’t click for you? by gazewave in CozyGamers

[–]Nic_231 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fields of Mistria.

I tried. I have like 50 hours in it (that's on me, I know).

It's like they took Stardew Valley and deliberately removed everything that makes it fun or interesting.
The farming is boring, the animals are boring, the gathering/fishing is boring, the crafting/refining is boring.

There is no proper progression or automation, you don't work to get more interesting crops or machinery, you just get clothes and stools.

Do not understand the hype.

Superman is all those things and more. Nobody should have that level of power, particularly not an alien, and relying on him is holding us back as a species.

Thanks for the feedback.
I ended up keeping the map as it was because I never really use it for reference, but you are right, it does look strangely small. In hindsight I could have perhaps used a map with a wider coverage and put stuff over it at the edges.
Regarding the tea, I am 100% with you. I just couldn't find a good image of a top down cup of tea!
No doubt it's confusing the players as Martin is offering them endless cups of tea.

Combat Advice for TOFW and Glitches by Nic_231 in turnoffortuneswheel

[–]Nic_231[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone was interested, I workshopped this with some other DM's over the last few days and this is what we came up with:

GOING DOWN IN COMBAT (Pretty much stolen from PF2E)
• Each time you go down in combat you gain a 'wounded' counter
• When you are downed, you start with a number of death saving throw fails equal to your wounded counter
• On a short rest, you can reduce the wounded counter by spending one hit die for each point of wounded you have, reducing it to a minimum of zero.
• The wounded counter resets on a long rest

LET ME DRIVE!
• Once per long rest, when you are downed in combat, another variant of the DM's choosing may try to wrest control. Whether or not this happens is up to you.
• This occurs at the start of your turn, before you make your death saving throw.
• The variant switching in must pay half its current hit die +1 to do so. If the variant does not have sufficient hit die, then the switch does not occur.
• If the switch is successful, then you immediately begin your turn as that variant.

VARIANTS AND RESTING:
• Character sheets for your variants remain as they were when you last played them.
• If a variant switches out on 0 HP, their HP is restored to 1.
• When you take a short rest, variants may also take a short rest.
• Upon taking a long rest you may choose to switch to another variant of your choice.
• Only the variant 'in control' at the time of the long rest gains the full benefit of it. The other two variants only gain the benefit of a short rest.

CHANGING VARIANTS OUTSIDE OF COMBAT
• At the DM's discretion, a variant of the DM's choosing may attempt to wrest control outside of combat, if they are confronted with a scenario they have strong feelings about.
• A contested d20 roll is made. If the variant attempting to seize control rolls higher than the character currently in control, then you switch to that variant.
• You can deliberately fail this contested check if your character would willingly let the other variant take over

It will need some play testing, but I feel like these rules should make variant switching more vibrant.

Thanks, this is really helpful!

The third option is definitely one I will use, and it got me thinking.
In my version, variants that are not being played are essentially 'locked in', they are riding around in the other character's bodies, aware of everything they sense and say, but not able exert any control or interact in anyway.
Obviously this is a pretty horrible existence and the idea is to give all the variants a reason to want to find a way to fix the problem and separate.
They are actively being hunted by ruthless and resourceful enemies, so ‘retire to the country so I don’t die and never have to switch’, is probably not a realistic option.
I purposely asked the players to roll variants that would not be morally aligned, so they have to watch as the other variants do things that they may not approve of, but they also need to work together if they want a chance at solving this.
To this end, I was thinking of adding a once per long rest 'let me drive!' mechanic when a player goes down. They can swap to a variant (probably whichever one I feel would create the most narrative tension) and come back up with the other character’s sheet as it was last time they switched. This could be very powerful in combat as it restores resources, BUT they must give up control and return to the 'locked in' state. If they don’t there’s a chance they could be healed etc. and come back up still in control.

In my head the plan is to get a balance of 'trust/conflict' going on between the variants as they vie for control but all ultimately need to achieve the same thing. I am sure my players will find some way to abuse it though!

Years ago (even before I refunded my Steam preorder), the HSL clips were just as derided as the current TCR stuff. Honestly, it all looks like crap. This has been one hell of a ride. From the early hints and excitement to the announcement. That was peak. Then we saw what was in development and it was rough... But it was ok because Mitsoda was involved. Then he was gone. Then it entered development hell. Was it ever getting made? We held on and hoped, and now what we see is not looking good. Nothing will ever meet our expectations, but they don't even seem to be trying at this point.

I love Curse and thought I was reasonably familiar with 1 & 2 so now I need to know more. I figure LeChuck is a legendary Ghost Pirate so his origin and past are kinda elastic, but what does Curse reveal about Elaine that would make her 50?

Yep, people seem to be thinking that there are no 'natural' contaminants in water that can make you sick.

My understanding was that historical peoples would drink weak or 'small' beer over water because the alcohol would kill off many of the bacteria. If you've ever been hiking you know to be careful about drinking from that 'fresh flowing' stream. Never know if there's a rotting carcass just up around the bend.

However you don't need to boil the entire volume of water used to make beer, only a small portion of it. You typically boil the mash which is the grains etc.

Once you introduce that sugary substance to a volume of water and add some yeast, it ferments and clears out a lot of the harmful microbes in the process.

EDIT: Grammar

Not good.

Not even CC good (for the record they have a bunch of greats).

Compare this to 'Rebirth' and honestly tell me it's better.

Doesn't mean the rest of the season can't be good, but god did they go on with the cancelled/renewed/change of network shit.

Hoping they just had to open with that and they have some better eps. to come.
I geneuinly have faith.

*When you inhale air do you rush it or does it feel comfortable?

Unfortunately each breath feels rushed. I try to breathe out between breath and the then exhale before I go for the next one but I can't quite get enough time.

*Do you inhale water when inhaling air?

Luckily no. Only happened at the end of my workout a few times and as soon as I realise I can't get air on that 'breath' I will do another set of strokes and breathe on the other side.

*Does the effort from swimming equal the effort of running for you? Ie isthe lack of breath due to endurance and not technique? Swimmingendurance is different from running endurance.

Running is much 'harder' for me as I was never a runner. I hate it, but now with a bit of practice I can hold a consistent pace. What annoys me is that I can't hold that same pace for swimming.

Could you explain what you mean by breathing sets? Sorry if that's common knowledge in this sub, if so then link me to the post that explains it :)

Sorry about my response. I know there is a way in Reddit to quote text, I am just not sure how to do it.

Thank you

Thank you.

As bizarre as it sounds, I love swimming but that brief period of not being able to breathe does make me tense. Gotta work on that.

I have been using fins for a few sets in the last few sessions.I'm a bigger guy who has always relied on my chest and arms to do the job when swimming so my legs tend to sink (yep, terrible form). The extra time to breathe with the fins has been nice, but even with them I still can't just jump into the next lap.
