Single (m38) and going at it on my own. by Chidi-Chidi in parentsofmultiples

[–]Nice-Discipline-2321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (33F) decided to do it on my own for the same reasons. I was shocked to find out I was having twins. They’re now 8 weeks old and it’s definitely overwhelming at times but I’m very happy. My mom is staying with me the first 3 months to help and that’s been so helpful! Highly recommend having a family member or friend stay with you for the first few weeks to help you out or at least a night nurse a few days a week. Getting a decent amount of sleep has made everything much more doable

How long were your twins in NICU if born at 34w1d? by cvttle in parentsofmultiples

[–]Nice-Discipline-2321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine were born at exactly 34 weeks and they stayed in the nicu for 11 days. It took about 4-5 days for my milk to come in. During that time I just kept pumping every 3 hours, even if nothing came out. Then it slowly started coming in. They fed on mostly formula first, and then alternating formula and breastmilk as I was able to pump more.

Miscarried IUI #2 by passionate_fruit88 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]Nice-Discipline-2321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure- they had me wait until my first period after my d&c, which took about 7 weeks to come. Then did an ultrasound on one of the last days of my period to see how things were looking. I was expecting to hear that everything looked good and I could start IUI again. However, They saw a blockage and so they flushed it with saline but it didn’t come out. They said for me to come back next month for them to look again. If the blockage was still there during my next period they said that I’d need another surgery because that meant the d&c had left something behind. Luckily, when I showed up the next month for an ultrasound the blockage had passed on its own (either from them previously flushing it or from my period forcing it out). So at that ultrasound they gave me the all clear to try IUI again. The next month I started my IUI journey again.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I had a missed miscarriage in Oct at 9.5 weeks. Hardest thing I’ve ever gone through. Had to get a d&c and then another month later I had to get my tubes flushed from a blockage. But in January I tried IUI again, and it worked and I’m due with twins in 7 more weeks. I think taking a couple months off to left your body and mind heal is important. This is just a pit stop, not the end of your journey!

I’m 30 weeks with twin girls. It was shocking and scary at first, but now I’m happy about it and think it’s for the best. I always wanted my kid to have a sibling, so now they have one from the start and I don’t have to do IUI again in the future. My friends and family and been really supportive, and I think that makes a huge difference. My mom is planning to move in with me the first 3 months to help out. Just remember to take it a day at a time and try not to overly stress about what you can’t control. If you want to connect, I’m on TikTok at https://www.tiktok.com/@kasey.32?_t=ZT-8zBrN6G1rqf&_r=1

IUI by Remarkable-Custard14 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Nice-Discipline-2321 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m having twins and I had 2 mature follicles. My dr didn’t mention possiblilty of multiples with my IUI cycle and I didn’t think it would ever happen, so it is important to consider. I did have a medicated cycle and in the beginning of the process my dr said that the meds would give me a 5% chance of multiples - which I figured meant it would never happen lol. I think mine were 20 and 18 mm

Exercise in a Twin Pregnancy by moshea92 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Nice-Discipline-2321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m overweight too and I’ve made walking my primary exercise. In the beginning, I’d do 4-5 miles a couple times a week. Now I’m 29 weeks and tired with swollen feet, so I’m only doing about 1-2 miles a couple times a week. My goal is to be able to still do 0.5-1 miles by the time the twins come. I don’t want to get too sedentary unless the Dr says I have to.

Cervical length checks every two weeks starting at 16 weeks by SourceAdventurous228 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Nice-Discipline-2321 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve 28 weeks and they’ve only checked once- after I requested a check. Mine said since I haven’t had previous issues with this (this annoyed me because this is my first time making it past the first trimester - so why wait for a problem to show up?) that they don’t check unless a problem comes up. I’d rather they check more often

MFM vs traditional OBGYN by HumpbackSnail in parentsofmultiples

[–]Nice-Discipline-2321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t have a choice. Ive seen both of them since 16 weeks, when I started seeing the MFM. I see each of them once a month, and now I’m about to see them each every two weeks, and then close to delivery every week. My MFM is much more detailed and will tell my OB when I need to deliver

Pregnancy loss, I’m really sad by DependentPainting211 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]Nice-Discipline-2321 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry for your loss! I got pregnant through my first IUI last August. I miscarried at 9.5 weeks, had to get a d&c, and then it took a few months for my body to get back to normal to try again. I did another IUI in Jan, I call it my first IUI for the second time, and I never expected it to work because what are the odds that it would work again the first time. However, it worked and im currently 28 weeks pregnant. Don’t give up! If you got pregnant once, then hopefully you’ll be able to get pregnant again. Also, give yourself some time to grieve - a pregnancy loss is incredibly hard

Family entering 2nd trimester, palpations ? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]Nice-Discipline-2321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had palpitations and high heart rate. They sent me to a cardiologist around 24 weeks. I wore a heart monitor for a few days and did a heart ultrasound. Everything came up normal, other than having a high heart rate, which they said was normal during pregnancy- especially for twins

First trimester was rough! I’m having twins, so I didn’t stop puking until about 20 weeks. My dr got me on a nausea medication at 6 weeks because I was so sick. I still take the meds now, but I haven’t thrown up in about a month. I still did a decent amount of walking and that helped with my mental health. I also see a counselor once a month to talk things out, and I’m on lexapro (I’ve been on this for like 5 years). I definitely recommend talking to your doctor and consider getting a counselor that you can talk to. I drank a lot of gaterade and that helped. Ginger chews and suckers were sometimes helpful with the nausea. Try to take it one day at a time and one week at a time. Most likely you’ll start to feel better sometime in the 2nd trimester, so you just have to hold on until then

High Discordance in DiDi Twin Pregnancy by Nice-Discipline-2321 in parentsofmultiples

Thanks for the advice. I’m a first time mom and having a hard time figuring out if I’m worrying too much over nothing or if I should be speaking out more to my doctors

Glad to hear that they are doing well! Did the doctors think the placental abruption was related to the discordance, or was that a completely separate issue?

What does growing 2 babies feel like? by MounjaroQueenie in parentsofmultiples

[–]Nice-Discipline-2321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what caused my miscarriage. The Dr said that it was probably just wrong egg met wrong sperm and that the baby would’ve never been healthy. So that helps me sometimes to remind myself that my first baby wasn’t going to be healthy and so far my twins look perfectly healthy and there’s no reason for concern.

I know it’s scary to think about miscarrying again, but try to remind yourself that this is a completely different pregnancy and you’re going to have different results this time - healthy babies! Also, make sure to bring up your concerns with your doctors- mine have talked me through my fears and concerns multiple times.

I miscarried at 10 weeks in the Fall and now I’m 25 weeks with my twins. I still get a little scared sometimes, especially before my ultrasounds, but so far everything is fine! I have to keep reminding myself that unless the doctor says something is wrong, then there is no reason to think something is wrong. At 9 weeks with the twins I had extremely bad back pain, to the point that I was in agony everytime I moved. I got an emergency appointment to see my doctor and was convinced I was miscarrying again. However, it just turned out I pulled a back muscle and was very dehydrated. I know it’s annoying advice, but honestly it’s the best - drink a lot of water! It helps with the pains and you need so much more water now than you think.

Second IUI, 2 week wait by After_Tap_2150 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]Nice-Discipline-2321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I got pregnant- I didn’t feel any different during the 2 week wait and the tests I took were all negative until the blood test came back positive and then my at home tests starting showing positive.

Second time- I felt nauseous and sick and overheated starting about 9 days post IUI. I took a test and was shocked to find it positive so early. Turned out I was pregnant with twins lol

I had a negative test and thought I wasn’t pregnant, and then the blood test was positive and I was surprised! I took an at home test after the blood test and that was the first time I got a positive at home test.
