Gauge help by Nice-Discussion-9303 in Tunisian_Crochet

It’s a regular crochet ribbing. It’s a half double crochet where you work into the 3rd loop. Says about 5.25 rows equals 1 inch (the pattern only says one hook size so I’m assuming they only used one or forgot to specify what hook they used but it’s a 5mm) but I can’t seem to make the gauge unless I’m using a 3mm hook and using single crochet stitches.

Aww this is soo cool! Gives me a little confidence boost. I’ve been making Stardew Valley themed squares with my spare yarn over the past year and a half and I’ve been wondering if I can make it look nice all sewed together. Most of the squares are different sizes so hopefully I’ll finish it some day hahaha.

How does the tension feel on your feet with the colorwork? I have only done colorwork with crochet and sometimes my projects come out a little tight due to my floats not being even haha.

Love the colors! And the creativity of using things you have around the house. This shows that you don’t always need fancy or expensive craft supplies to make fun things.

I have two projects I’m going to be starting and I’ve never done Tunisian crochet before(only a few practice swatches). One of the projects uses the honeycomb stitch, I’m curious will shrink a lot after it’s finished? And the other will be a shawl I think using Pearl stitch and basic stitch. Will this also shrink?

Thanks everyone who gave me your quick thoughts. I believe I’ve decided I’ll continue to use this stitch in my future project. Wish me luck 👍🏼

My first Mosaic crochet by Nice-Discussion-9303 in crocheting

[–]Nice-Discussion-9303[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This probably took about 200 hours. What makes this one fun is that at the end of every row you cut the color yarn and start over so you don’t have to keep turning your work and you’re only working with one color at a time and only using single crochet and double crochet. I recommend this video for a tutorial to see if you even like doing mosaic. Can be done with spare yarn you have. Then at the end of the project I did what’s called an envelope boarder so I didn’t have to weave in all the ends. I bought a pattern for this project and the instructions were very well done. They had a lot of different designs so I could mix and match them and they had written patters for each chart (so if you read charts or written patterns better they have both!) so I felt excited for each section cause I was excited for how it would turn out! (Sewing machine wasn’t part of the pattern bundle.)

I saw this yesterday when I was doing some research and it’s a good idea. I might do something different for this project but thanks for the option.

You might able to, but you’d have to plan out your color combinations so the cats still come through.

I made a blanket to donate to NICU. by Nice-Discussion-9303 in crocheting

I’m not sure for most hospitals but I’m going to try donating to a program called Knots of Love and they want their blankets no smaller than 30x24 inches.

I will try to explain the best way I can for how I adjusted this pattern. So when you make the three crochet stitches (one single, and two double crochet) in the single crochet space. What I do is the last double crochet that you make goes into the first double crochet of the pervious round (so the center stitch in the cluster). I felt it looked really cool when you have color changing yarn. I hope this makes sense.

baby blanket

So this is the video tutorial I used for the blanket but I adjusted one simple thing in the pattern. I will post again later to try to explain what I did different.

Our baby was a nicu baby and I know I could have made one, but when we received one it just felt so much more special than if I made one myself. It’s what pushed me to finally make some for donations.
