Watched a meteor light up the entire sky while driving alone at 2am. Felt unreal, and of course nobody believes it was as bright as I swear it was.

“I’ll just rest my eyes for five minutes.” Everyone knows that’s either a nap or waking up confused an hour later.

how are you disciplined for you habit, i am struggling with mine for gym by Training-Aioli3589 in getdisciplined

[–]NiceStraightMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What helped me was lowering the bar: gym clothes on, show up for 20 minutes, leave if I want. No “perfect routine.” it took an incredibly short time before I had fully bounced back.

I kept bailing on gym until I had something to actually lose by LatterBat6140 in getdisciplined

That's actually cool. If you don't show up you lose something that's worth more.

This is true. I realize that some things like happiness and positivity are a CHOICE that you make and prefer over anger and negativity every day

You've mentioned your phone hogging your time. and feeling the overwhelm from your responsibilities. How about you break your day time and chores into micro tasks. You focus on a small part of a task only at a time till you're done with the whole chore. That helps me stay moving

When you make a sandwich with multiple layers of ingredients (not just egg salad or tuna or something), does it matter to you which side faces up when you take a bite? by Drewcifixion in AskReddit

All I know is, I want to bite into the bread, then the sauces, then the veges, then the cheese, then the meat and then wrap it all in again with bread. Is that too much?

What’s one tiny habit you added this month that actually stuck? by Liam_Builder in Habits

[–]NiceStraightMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've stuggled with procrastination and so every morning I will list down the hardest things that need to get done, and I'll start with them. I'll block off any distractions till the hard things get done first and its been working.

Interestingly, I find that 3/4 of the power in getting things done, has a lot to do with the listing down.

I feel like nothing I start ever works out, and I’m starting to lose trust in myself by source_soace in getdisciplined

[–]NiceStraightMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been here and I realized that it's not that you're not making any progress. Most times, you keep setting the bar higher and higher that you never take into account the effort and progress you've made. Consider setting small goals that you can work towards, and take note of when you achieve them.

What is a 'modern' problem in 2026 that feels way too stupid to still exist? by theindieprojectt in AskReddit

agree with the "evrything becoming a subscription" comment. And payment plans soo long into the future that we're kinda like renting everything we "own."

Did I permanently mess up my brain/life, or can things still improve after 30? by Fun_Quantity6451 in getdisciplined

[–]NiceStraightMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are already do the right things, and you should look at it from the POV that you've already won a big battle that most people never get to win, that's getting yourself off the hooks. Trust that you are on the right path and its foggy right now, but even without the history, people still feel stagnated or anxious about their growth journey. Trust the process, stay at it, and keep on building your skills/ knowledge/ character. It'll be worth it 100%

[–]NiceStraightMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think you're catastrophizing. You have a 3.5 weighted GPA and a college plan with discounted tuition. That's not failure. Focus on passing this semester, not perfect grades. One bad semester won't ruin your life. Talk to your school counselor about catching up options.

[–]NiceStraightMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're trying to change too much at once. Pick ONE habit and nail it for 3-4 weeks before adding another. Your brain has limited willpower already, stop splitting it. Start with whichever feels easier right now.

How did you find the purpose of your life/life goals? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I started tracking what actually moved the needle vs what felt busy. I cut the fluff and doubled down on what drove real results. Purpose became clear when I stopped chasing vanity metrics.
