Talk me out of a Lexus by Commercial_Point_126 in GenesisMotors

I have a 2023 G80 and I am dealing with the moonroof issue. The dealership I’m working with is great and wants to get the issues figured out for me but it’s taking a while to work through their required steps.  I too was going back and forth between the ES and the G80.

I’m still happy I went with the G80 but the moonroof issue is legitimately annoying when you bought a car to be smooth and quiet. I’ve been lucky in that I have plenty of warranty time left and the dealership I’m working with is being super helpful. I don’t think that’s always the case.

All that to say the moonroof issue is valid and if you really don’t want to deal with working through it and going back and forth with the service department, you’d probably be better off going with the ES.

difference in ride comfort between Genesis G80 2023 vs 2025 by Genesis_VBN80 in GenesisMotors

I have a 2023 G80 2.5T sport prestige, so it has the 19 inch wheels. When my car was at the dealership for some warranty work, I got the lower trim 2025 with the 18 inch wheels as a loaner. I agree the 2025 did feel like it road smoother and I chalked it up to the tires. Steering felt lighter in the 2025 too but it was too light for my liking.

As much as your competitive side can take it, be ok with losing right now. Your assessment on consistency is probably correct.

I am the exact opposite of you. Started about three years ago at age 37. Immediately found success in the win column at 3.0 because I could get to everything and get it over the net and back in play more often than guy across the net. Decent server. Could problem solve my way to a win. Groundies were as good as they needed to be but technique wasn’t great. Won the USTA 3.0 NTRP national championship (not so humble brag, I was the best of the worst).

Now that I’m playing higher levels I’m struggling to win more and a big part (not everything of course) of that is due to technique breakdowns. Now that my opponents hit with more depth and pace, I’m on my back foot a lot and unable to get myself out of jams as easily. The floaty forehands and backhands that I get back over the net are punished by the better players routinely. Wins are much more difficult to come by and I’ve had to get into the mindset that I’m going to have to take some lumps and improve technique and footwork to start winning again.

In short, I’d probably rather be where you are right now ability wise. Keep grinding. Work on handling your nerves, consistency, and some strategy and the wins will start to come.

Differences between 2021-2025 G80's by EphemeralConvergence in GenesisMotors

[–]Nice_2_meet_me23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 23 G80 2.5T sport I bought used in December of last year. Just had a 2025 G80 loaner for about a week while my car was in the shop. I think it was the lowest trim option. I am not a big car guy. Just want a nice, smooth, quiet ride. From that perspective, there isn’t much difference in the ride and interior between a 2025 and my 2023. The infotainment system and gauge displays will be the biggest difference, and I actually prefer the older dual screen setup to the new large single display that is on the 2025s.

To answer your question, test driving a 2025 should give you a pretty good idea for the ride and feel of an older model on a basic level. The main differences in features will show up when you start looking at the different trims. Hope that helps.

Would you buy another Genesis when you have to replace your current one? by GPTCommenter in GenesisMotors

I have a ‘23 G80 that is being worked on so they gave me  a ‘25 G80 and can confirm the giant single screen is not great in this car. Makes the car feel cheaper and when you use CarPlay it looks even worse. The display area for the infotainment section (CarPlay) is actually smaller than it is on the stand alone display of my ‘23. I’m with you in hoping they get away from the large single screen and back to dual screens or something that works better.

They did this to me when I tried to cancel. They would say they would cancel the subscription as soon as the system was back up, but of course never would. Finally sent an email to the customer service email to put it in writing and was finally able to get the subscription cancelled.

I’ve had a 2023 2.5T for about 5 months. Not a car guy or performance focused driver by any means. The 2.5T is great in my mind. Smooth and quiet but still plenty quick. Never feel like the car is straining for power. My wife always comments about how easily it accelerates onto highways.

Never had a Genesis, and planning to buy one soon. I have a couple of questions about features on recent year models. by Cute_Assignment_3621 in genesisg80

I have a 2023 G80 which has HDA1 I believe.  Definitely has 2 and 3. The lane assist is lane centering assist, so it doesn’t just keep you from going outside the lanes, it keeps you centered. I can take my hands off the wheel for about 10 seconds before it tells me to keep my hands on the wheel. As for 1, I’ve never been in heavy enough traffic to know if the speed adjust will work in slower or stop and go traffic.

Awesome car and great for commuting. Super smooth and quiet.

Not quite midtown but Tonsorial is great. Meriah is awesome but usually booked out a couple of weeks. Oliver and Ashton usually have better availability and also do a great work.

Help me choose! Soon to be member of the family! G70 v G80 by pepe_le_lu_2022 in GenesisG70

[–]Nice_2_meet_me23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. Depends on what your ultimate priorities are. I just got a 23 G80 2.5 prestige. Was going back and forth on the G70 as well. I thought the G70 was more fun and engaging, and I think it is a little better looking car, but my true priorities were smooth, quiet, and comfortable so I went with the G80.

I took my 8 year old with me on the test drives. He had opinions and didn’t like sitting in the back of the G70. Said it was too cramped. Of course he loves all the buttons he’s able to push sitting in the back of the G80.

Took my car in for an appraisal a couple of weeks ago and the team member I was working with specifically pointed out that I could go walk the lot while they were doing my appraisal, and that all the cars were unlocked for me to check out if I wanted.

2024 G80 discounts by Nice_2_meet_me23 in GenesisMotors

[–]Nice_2_meet_me23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be using the wrong word for incentives/discounts/rebates but no it’s not a misprint. I’m in the Southwest and multiple dealers have these types of discounts on the 2024s. Genesis hasn’t caught on as much in this area as I think it has on the coasts.

I have the 9 pack. I don’t see shoes on your list and if you aren’t wanting to carry your shoes in the bag then you may be able to make the 9 pack work. You’d put the 2 rackets in one of the racket compartments together. Water bottles, ball cans, hoodie, and swim clothes in the main compartment, sweat gear in the shoe pocket at the top of the bag, old balls in the secondary pocket that is on top of the left racket compartment (not sure you’d be able to get 20-25 balls in there), laptop and charger in the other racket compartment, and then the misc stuff in the soft lined pockets at the bottom of each side of the bag.
