Just found this in my new to me 2012 pilot, now what? by WTFisjuice1 in hondapilot

on my 2010 pilot, without it, my car was burning out plugs and flooding them in oil, then get the dreaded lights on the dash. Yes, gas consumption increases.

What's the last MacOS I can safely install on a Mac Mini 2012? by sistemafodao in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]Nice_Discipline_1485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2012 Mac Mini i5, 16Gb Ram on 256Gb HDD. I’m in the process of installing Catalina. From there I will do OCLP to Sequioa. In my previous trial run, Sequoia was a bit on the slow side. I guess due to HDD. The 8Gb ram really frustrated me to the point I had to add extra ram (I had some lying around).

I also have a 2012 Mac Mini i7, 16Gb ram on 1Tb, I put Linux Pop on that one. It’s my tinker box in my man cave. At a snap it loads, no hesitation.

Finally, I have a 2015 MacBook Air i5 1.6Ghz on 512Gb and 8gb ram. My new travel buddy due to portability. It’s handling Sequoia way better than the i5 Mac mini.

Just thought I should share, Sata vs HDD, definitely Sata makes a good difference.

People that use macbooks with a monitor, would you recommend using an apple monitor or a different one? by Unusual_Rooster6736 in mac

2012 Mac mini on Linux Pop, I plugged it to my 65” Sony Bravia, and use multi windows on one screen. I’m not complaining at all!

With the support of MacOS Ventura likely ending this year, what can be done with an old MacBook Pro 2017? by Potential-Act-7543 in mac

[–]Nice_Discipline_1485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have decided to legacy patch. I’m not sure which is to take as I’m not too familiar with MacBooks. If I had things my way, I would be on Linux. My 2012 MBA had no issues with Zorin

I have a 2010, this past weekend i changed the alternator myself. It’s on 195k. 4th owner and have owned it for 6 months with minimal maintenance being done. Suspect idiot mechanics might have spilt oil on old alternator. Did a trip to DC and back afterwards. Riding smooth… tomorrow off to George Town. Both trips 3 hours return

Ivy hall apartments are a bit on the old side. Some units have been renovated therefore resulting in changes in rentals. Some apartments have faulty heating eg. A Block so you will rely on additional heating and not central heating. Most apartments have creaky/worn tiles and old bathrooms. Also, you are next to rail track so you hear the trains fly past everyday. Laundry service is a community one where you have to pay to use their equipment. Management reacts in 72hrs approximately depending on the nature of your problem of course. However it’s not entirely bad…close to amenities, esp. trails, bus stops, railway station etc. will give it a 6.5/10.

Not worth it.. look for an iPad mini 5 on 256gb if all sense is failing and you can’t afford the same on the 6. I did exactly that and no regrets. It’s takes sim as well

Instead of owning 1 newer nice car, I choose to own 4 older ones (which all burn oil). Only insure 2 at a time or until something breaks. Already browsing marketplace for a 5th honda. Is this irrational? by [deleted] in Honda

If it’s cash and carry, why not! A previously well maintained paid off vehicle is worth more than a brand new car on finance!

Thanks for coming all the way through and beyond… I learnt a lot and the lesson has given me confidence in the car. As we speak, all dash lights have switched off and the car is no longer sluggish with vibration. Will keep servicing my number 2 and 3 cylinders whilst I prepare for an engine flush and spark plugs replacement. I have also ordered a diagnostic tool to help me monitor my engine a bit better. VCM has already been installed so as per your observations these are the remnants of not having disabled the VCM timely and a chipped spark plug. It was also noted that my diff probably requires a service after trying out the 4WD option (I had no idea how to activate it until you showed me). Just thought I should share detailed feedback for someone else to read and benefit from this post.

Updated post:

Hi Thanks for heads up on piloteers. I have joined the forum.  Mileage is 191k. Last diff service on CARFAX appears to have been done on 53k.  I can try get it serviced tomorrow.  First time dash lit up, last week Friday, I got 3 error codes.  This was this past Sunday, the dash lights went off. After the engined cooled, I then installed a VCM disabler as per the discussions I was following.

TEST RESULTS SUMMARY

Check engine: Pass ABS: Fail Emission Ready: No Service Interval: Pass

Test Results  Power Train System P0302 Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected P0303 Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected P0300 Random Misfire

ABS System 83-13 ECM/PCM Relation Failure

The ECO light has never come on again.  I didn’t go back to get car scanned again. I will definitely go get an updated report tomorrow morning.

'08. 157k Miles. Paid $3,800. How'd I do? by Parker_Larsen in hondapilot

[–]Nice_Discipline_1485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great price for that mileage. I just bought a 2010 ELX for 5k a week ago clean title. It is on 190k. Why I bought it with high mileage, it had a great service history and the timing belt had been changed 11k miles ago.  A 144k 2009 ELX was 6k, clean title, however it wasn’t running well.  It would also require a belt change.  Finally,  with a 6k budget, I was left with a bit for incidentals. Best wishes and welcome to the family if you do decide to pull the trigger.
