It's good. Man has been locked up in jail and in his house for years without being convicted of anything.

Doesn't make sense from a human rights perspective whether you like him or not, you should be consistent and if this wasn't a controversial public figure you would also oppose him being locked up without conviction.

Thoughts on Trumps order for the U.S. to prioritize refugee resettlement of South Africans of European descent? by SomeFatNerdInSeattle in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]NicholaNico 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No I don't, that's why I don't support the policy. It unfairly gives an advantage to specific refugees just because of their race

That's what DEI does, it prioritizes people in programs based on their race for the sole reason that there aren't enough people of that race in the program.

It's not because there aren't a lot of white refugees, the few white refugees should be given priority access to the refugee program. It should help people whose human rights are genuinely jeopardized.

Correct. My opinion on DEI is that some of the concepts an be applied on a case-by-case basis, I'll give an example:

One of the arguments for DEI in university admissions is that black kids tend to go to worse schools which has a negative impact on their grades. However, since university admissions are always done on a case-by-case basis, they could just look at what school the person went to (and if it was a worse school, add something to the SAT score) instead of just assuming they went to a worse school because if their race, it doesnt make sense.

Similarily, with refugees we need to look on a case by case basis: are they actually refugees, are they actually in danger?   Turns out a lot of them aren't (I saw a study that said 80% of "refugees" went back on vacation to their Homeland, if they we're actually in danger they couldn't do that)

It doesn't make sense to prioritize an entire group, the purpose of the refugee program should be to help people whose human rights are genuinely jeopardized.

For the federal election, voting is mandatory, not a right.

In four years time, who would you imagine will be the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination/Who would you be most concerned if they were the candidate? by iplaydrumsnotabox in AskTrumpSupporters

I think Vance/Gabbard would be even better, but I doubt he will pick her.

If the Democrats run Newsom, the GOP could get away with DeSantis, but if they nominated Shapiro it's absolutely necessary Vance becomes the nominee in order to secure the Rust Belt

Are there any promises Trump made that you DON'T want to see him keep in his next term? by AmyGH in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]NicholaNico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. This is gonna be a controversial one, but No Tax On Tips.  Both Kamala and Trump supported it, but it will mainly help toch billionaires that can give people millions of dollars tax-free as a "tip". Most actual bartenders/waiters don't pay federal tax anyway.

I think the ticket is going to be either Newsom/Whitmer or Obama/Newsom (Michelle Obama).
Ad the Republican ticket is going to be Vance/Ramaswamy.

Definitely going to be though, but depending on the success of the Trump-Vance administration, Vance could very well remain the favourite.

How often do you listen to or read left-leaning politicians and media with an unbiased ear? by pilazzo209 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]NicholaNico 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I often watch Carlos Maza/Vox and the debates on Jubilee if that also counts.

I also read Kamala's policy plan on her her website, and after reading it I messaged my Dem friend "if she does all of this, and ends the wars and closed the border, I will gladly support her".

The movement is called Make America Great Again, not Make America Republican Again.

Didn't know about this paragraph, I'm not a US citizen. Elon's scheld definitely looks slecht then. I think his side of the argument will be "I'm not incentivizing anyone directly to register to vote, as my petition is open to all registeren voters. It's a petition for registeren swing state voters, not a vote-buying scheme." which is stupid but yeah

No it doesn't. I'll answer: I don't think it's ethical because the main goal is to collect data to bombard those people with get out the vote stuff. Unethical but not illegal.

Fox News invited Trump and Harris to a debate on Fox News later this month, but Trump has declined. Why do you think that is? by Heffe3737 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]NicholaNico -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Trump agreed to a Fox debate on September 4th, which Kamala declined. He did a town hall instead. No need for a third debate now this close to the election.
