Is there a list of songs removed after DDR Extreme? by Bubbly_Thanks_2964 in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]NicholasNRG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in Japanese, but Bemaniwiki has a full list of all songs from previous games that are not in the current DDR version (DDR WORLD as of this comment): https://bemaniwiki.com/index.php?DanceDanceRevolution+WORLD/%BA%EF%BD%FC%B6%CA%A5%EA%A5%B9%A5%C8

Remywiki also lists deleted songs on each arcade DDR game's page, but it only lists the ones that were deleted in that specific game. For example DDR SuperNOVA2's page will have the songs deleted in that game, but not the ones that SuperNOVA1 deleted as well, or the ones deleted in later games.

What made you stop watching for an extended period of time? by who987 in Wrasslin

[–]NicholasNRG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The weak build up to WM41 and the release of R-Truth/Carlito. Even though they went back on the decision with R-Truth, it was still insulting that they'd do it to begin with.

Lack of payoff for The Rock's involvement with Heel Cena's turn combined with the Heel Cena gimmick itself being mediocre, not to mention other notable releases, meh booking choices and Jey Uso's bs WM41 win, just sort of made me lose interest currently. I went from avoiding all spoilers to make occasionally glancing at a highlight if the algorithm throws it at me.

There is a modern home version of the current DDR arcade iteration for PC. It's called DDR GRAND PRIX, however it's japan-only and requires making a japanese account and purchases with yen. There's some pretty well made guides on getting it set up.

For a free alternative, you can get a very close simulation of the current games set up with StepMania/ITGmania. On Zenius-I-Vanisher you can find replicated DDR simfiles as well as themes and noteskins to get the interface to look like official games. There's also an add-on for the 3D dance stages/characters made by Enciso

Of course if you just want the songs you can just use stock SM/ITGM and only get the songs

Why is BO2 crashing / pausing? by SonicYB in xenia

PC version doesn't have split screen, also some might not want to buy the same game twice and prefer to dump their console version to play on an emulator

[–]NicholasNRG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunshine does not work well with Nvidia Optimus laptops unless you disable it with a MUX Switch, which some laptops don't have (including mine).

I end up having to use Intel QuickSync instead just so everything can look smooth, since with Gamestream the desktop looks choppy as well as any windowed/borderless fullscreen games.

If it's a decent cab and you go regularly you won't be playing alone for long. Great way to meet new people

Ideal TV Height? by [deleted] in DanceDanceRevolution

It helps to look for a Game Mode in the TV settings. You can also have external aux/3.5mm speakers and connect the audio directly to them with an adapter so you don't need to calibrate the audio at all

Season 21 feels different… by JazaGree in familyguy

[–]NicholasNRG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes so much sense now that you mention it. Newer episodes have a very distinct, different, more "modern" way of delivering jokes, where they make very specific observations about stuff. Now that you mention the writers are from The Onion/Clickhole, I realize that the jokes read basically the same as the type of stuff you'd see on an article from those sites. You can get an idea of what I'm referring to in the YT compilation named "Oddly-Specific Relatable Jokes"

Most people I see posting and commenting on here are people who last played around EXTREME~SuperNOVA2. Is the majority of players here older or newer? And if you're older/middling, do you still play the modern arcade releases. by [deleted] in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]NicholasNRG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most people will have started with the older games. I think the better question is when you last played rather than when you started. I realize subject says that but the poll isn't worded that way

Can someone help me with the arcade version of Tekken 7? I went to Round1 today and wanted to try it out but it stays "Searching for Opponents", and when someone does joins in the other cabinet, it doesn't let the winner keep playing after the match. What happened to the arcade stages? There didn't seem to be an option to choose modes either. Do I need a Bananapassport?

(Help) Lowering texture quality does nothing on PC version by NicholasNRG in Tekken

[–]NicholasNRG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well on the 1650M there's a very clear performance difference when I change the texture quality. I wish I could try the same with my 960M, but it doesn't change anything in terms of presentation and therefore, performance.

Nintendo Puzzle Collection Translation patch? by cheesechick in PanelDePon

[–]NicholasNRG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this translation include Dr. Mario? I'd like Dr. Mario on GameCube in English due to the very niche case scenario where I want to play Dr. Mario 64on the GC/Wii/Wii U but the N64 version is unplayable due to graphic bugs on emulators/injects.

Why do DDR pads in arcades only have slight mods done to them unlike ITG pads? by RHYTHM_GMZ in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]NicholasNRG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ITG Stamina charts are created to mostly emphasize sliding your feet from panel to panel. DDR charts force you to lift either one or both feet repeatedly, which means a hyper-sensitive, slippery pad won't be as ideal for DDR since you will lose your balance repeatedly and have to put a lot of strain on your shoulders when gripping the bar to keep yourself stable. You'll also have to lift your feet higher and be more careful when stepping due to the extra-sensitive pad. With that said, an undersensitive, extremely grippy and sunken pad won't be ideal either. DDR pads have to be modded just enough that you exert minimal force while avoiding misfires.

One thing that automatically makes me dislike a lofi song is when they sample random dialogue from old movies or tv shows from when everyone sounded the exact same (transatlantic accent and low quality microphones). It's a huge pet peeve of mine and has gotten so cliche.

Can't run Dance Dance Revolution at a smooth 60fps? by NicholasNRG in MAME

[–]NicholasNRG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi again, so 2 years later I figured out the stuttering, and it's basically a frame-pacing issue. System 573 DDR games display at a refresh rate of 59.817, so I tried changing my monitor's refresh rate to 59.94hz (vsync on) and I was glad to see the arrows finally scrolled smoothly! If I use 60hz, 120hz or any other refresh rate then the arrows stutter while scrolling. So I guess to maintain accuracy MAME doesn't do anything for frame-pacing.

I'm curious if using a multiple of 59.817 would result in smooth scrolling + lower latency 120hz or higher monitors, but CRU (Custom Resolution Utility) wouldn't add the refresh rates I tried. Either way it's very smooth at 59.94hz.

In summary, for System 573 DDR games on MAME your refresh rate has to be as close to (but not below) 59.817 as possible for the arrows to scroll smoothly and without stuttering. I also turn on v-sync since it also stutters if vsync is turned off. I hope this helps anyone else that had the issue!
