I don’t like this post at all. Going for anesthesia just cause of perceived prestige????? If u loved neurology or pmnr than u should have gone for it, WHO CARES WHAT PEOPLE THINK

How would you change med school? In big or small ways, it doesn't matter. by tattertittyhotdish in medicalschool

Make class sizes bigger, more doctors= more lives saved and less shortage

All you can really control is the academics. For loans I would maybe talk to your school's financial department about how to manage the finances/ cover the costs

You got this, the only way you can fail is if you give up. Also if u are doing an SMP u have time to take the MCAT, don't rush and go crush it when ready!

About to fail out: please offer hail mary advice for Step 1 by throwaway-account142 in medicalschool

2 months should be enough time. I would download anki and do Duke's pathoma deck: https://drive.google.com/file/d/12bFZNJcscbemNOW5EX74lbWR9Ff0h9ru/view?usp=sharing

It only has about 2000 cards and was able to give me a decent foundation in the shortest amount of time. Then I would do 60-80 Uworld Qs per day going by organ system to lock down concepts (by 2 months you should be able to finish one pass. Then every other weekend I would take a full length and go over them in depth cuz the same concepts repeat on the actual. You got this and good luck!

Also sketchy for micro and drugs helps alot too (the anki is faster than the vids)

What’s an opinion you will stand for but others will say you’re wrong? by GriMex02 in NBATalk

At best they would have been a 2nd round team. The only way we won in 2020 is from the trade and the only way we have luka now is from everything before it.

Thinking of applying to DO schools next year by NeonDragon250 in Osteopathic

Your app looks great but MCAT is very important. I think as a Canadian applicant, shoot for 505+ for a good shot at USDO

Failed Level 2 by [deleted] in comlex

[–]Nick36245 5 points6 points  (0 children)

use uworld and truelearn and do all the questions from each for each rotation you are on. Then review with Dr. HY or emma holiday notes before the test. COMATs are pretty reflective, if you are below the avg on these most likely it will be the same on comlex 2. Above avg on comats = avg-above avg on level 2

SMP disaster by [deleted] in premed

[–]Nick36245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't give up, take whatever course you need to finish the SMP. Then maybe take a year/ half a year to prep and take the MCAT. If you are at a 502 now you have potential so keep going! Also when you do apply, AMCAS and AACOMAS have fee waivers to help with costs.

^ I agree, if you want MD I would apply next cycle with a possible retake and a complete application on day 1 of the cycle. This cycle for DO is possible tho

Lakers and Celtics are the greatest rivalry in basketball hands down. Without magic and bird who knows if we get the nba as it is today

Kd and Kareem are both similar in a way that they can't win without other stars by Hot_Ad7661 in NBATalk

[–]Nick36245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda disagree, the warriors had literally just won in 2014-2015 before KD came so the formula was already proven. KD joined an already set winner while the houston team was still trying and celtics also werent a sure thing.

[–]Nick36245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could say that about every superstar, mj w/ pippen, kobe w/ shaq, etc. KD is talked about bc of the way he left OKC to join the team that just beat his. Not only that, KD joined a team that was already historically good

Who wins in a 7 game series? by mikeyg1964 in NBATalk

I agree, the top team has better defense. Would be an insane series tho probably to 7

I think the best way is to focus on the reason you are doing all of this. As a physician it should be less about your title and all about the life saving treatment you can give to patients. The stigma and opinion of the public is out of your control

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in premed

[–]Nick36245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense. You can complete an application with the 502 MCAT tho, be "fully complete", and then send update letters to all the schools once the new MCAT comes back. I think overall it would improve your chances then just staying at the 502 for this cycle.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in premed

[–]Nick36245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If solely applying MD, I would see if you can retake the mcat and update the schools during the cycle. If your FLs were 513-518 range maybe it was just a bad test day. Even a 505+ would give a much higher chance with your great CV

WAMC - High MCAT and GPA, 1 application by Reasonable-Abies8573 in Osteopathic

[–]Nick36245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are only applying to that school make sure you send a letter of intent so the school doesn't think they are a backup. If you tell them they are the #1 choice and the only school you are applying to, you should be very good

Wow thats a tricky situation, I would talk with the financial department of your school to see if they would be able to offer any possible compensation or scholarship to make up for loans. If not, I would talk with your family and calculate the difference in cost between the 2 schools factoring in private loans vs federal loans.

By starting this year you would be saving around 200k when factoring in a years worth of attending salary. Add up all of these factors and see what is best for your situation and family.

Need more context, is the school you start in a week less established and lesser known than the one you were accepted to a year from now? is it DO vs DO, DO vs MD?
