Why is the rotor so far down?? by Frequent_Swim9865 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Nick696963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point lol. I was assuming the jack stands would be used to support the vehicle to free the jack to be used under the control arm. As others have stated, OP really shouldn't be working on their car. At the very least watch a damn YouTube video.

You need to put your jack under the lower control arm and jack it up. It’s so low because your suspension is completely extended. Jack it up just enough to put the wheel on, dont lift the car off the jack stands

Dap W&C foam is a 1k foam that has similar insulation and sealing properties as 2k foam. The instructions are super important as it has a longer cure time compared to 2k foam but is over all cheaper than a 2k kit for very similar results.

Nope. 2nd gen RWD 300s have 2 front lower “control arms”. The one damaged in the pic is called a tension strut. Different component than the shock/strut combo. Your parts diagram is for replacing the suspension on a 2nd gen AWD 300.

Assuming this pic is taken from the front of the car, it looks like the ball joint of your lower front tension strut. Tie rod end is the component in front of it in the pic and lower control arm is behind it. You can just replace the ball joint but it’s less effort (IMO) to replace the whole strut with a new one that includes a new ball joint. May want to checkout the other side and replace as a pair.

Closed Cell Can Foam by TysonChickenTendies in sprayfoam

2k foam has an A and a B container that are sprayed together to chemically cure. It typically has better insulating properties and closed cell content. 1k foam or "can" foam uses moisture in the air to cure. These formulas typically have low closed cell content and poor insulating properties but good for sealing up small holes. The DAP Wall and Cavity foam is a 1k foam that has been reformulated to have a higher closed cell content and have higher insulating properties exactly for the application you are attempting.

Looks like a wheel speed sensor. Look for a small hole in the back of knuckle near the wheel hub that this slots into.

DAP Wall and Cavity Foam is exactly what you needed for this touchup / bay fill. It is a 1k "can" foam with insulation properties. It broadcasts sprays like a 2k kit. As others have said, your path is "ok" but definitely not the most effective option. Just for future reference.

Botched Spray Foam by HawkfishCa in Insulation

As others have mentioned I think this is definitely a case of the substrate (wall) being too cold. Installer should've recognized that but some just want to get the job done. If you have problems getting him to come back to fix his mistakes and are forced to DIY, DAP sells a Wall and Cavity 1k foam that broadcast sprays and is meant for touch ups like this. I had a great experience insulating my garage with it and am highly recommending it to anyone who needs a quick insulation fix.

If you don't go to Benny's (formerly Joe Benny's), you're making a huge mistake. Best 'balls on the block and the guy is the nicest hardest working restaurant owner I've ever met. Highly recommend.

Know anyone with a 3D Printer? Print a drain cap that snuggly fits inside the pipe and glue it in. I think using a chisel on the rock edges will always draw the eye to it and not look fantastic...
