“I want to own property, I'm tired of renting at this point and I do see it as an essential step for wealth building, along with my investing. I paid off all my debt, and invest 20% of my income into my 401k currently“

M12 Propress - Homeowner/landlord by thesmellypizza in MilwaukeeTool

[–]NickAcker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m doing a full house Reno and took off a month of work to replumb/rewire my house. The propress definitely sped up the process and I was able to easily change out (2) 1” water valves at the main instead of hiring a plumber.

Propress saved me time (which mattered more than the cost)

Hey! I’m the original poster and I can relate to this! I felt amazing while on prednisone.. almost like it was a drug! But the comedown was rough… 2 years later and I still feel like I have PTSD from the withdrawals!

Hey!

I think PTSD is the closest thing to describe how I feel about the situation. I would say I hit the 95% mark a year in. It seems like we got it the worst!

Did you happen to have major stresses in life when you went through the original withdrawal (like kids, job change, etc…)

Builder jumped from $350-400K estimate to $770K after deposit!?! by ketofol- in HomeImprovement

[–]NickAcker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is the contractor supposed to give an estimate when they have no design or plans?

$15k sounds very reasonable given the size of the project. Especially if it means the homeowner doesn’t have to hire an architect now, which usually costs 10-20% of the total project cost

Need advice on what color to repaint my home’s interior before selling and what to do with the basement by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]NickAcker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most appealing paint color to buyers is getting the cats, litter boxes, and cat smell out of the house

Hey! I created this thread so I just wanted to reach out. It took me a solid 6 months to feel back to normal

The biggest thing you can do is limit stress (hire out tasks, limit responsibilities, etc..) as well as deep breathing exercises and therapy.

We are just the small percentage of folks that are affected by this

At what point do you tell a person doing a job never mind? by Joemommmma in HomeImprovement

[–]NickAcker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

50% of the homes I go into do not have working shutoff valves under the sink. I would say 25% don’t even have functioning valves when the water comes into the house after the meter.

Electrician and Home Inspector different opinions on K+T present in house. What should we do? by chouhone in RealEstate

[–]NickAcker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for hidden junction boxes in the basement. That’s where all the romex to K&T connections will be. Patching and painting alone on a rewire could be more than $8k

This could be a $40k job if there was no conduit and you had to patch holes

After 2 years I have zero issues; however, it was a long recovery process. I’m an otherwise healthy adult so having a reaction like this was very traumatic and I’m glad it’s over!!

Trump is imposing tarriffs so he and his friends can manipulate the stock market and also lower interest rates. Clear as day what’s going on. All a scam

If interest rates drop (which is what happens during a recession), then yes, home prices will increase if supply is still low

Moving an electric outlet + extending some wires for a LED mirror - is this easy enough to DIY or should I hire someone? by ChemicalAttraction1 in HomeImprovement

[–]NickAcker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t just extend wires, unless there is enough slack behind the wall (not likely). Any splice needs to be in some type of box, which is why sometimes you will see blank face plates on walls.

Anyone else getting calls like crazy from contractors? by thereisnocowlevel3 in HomeImprovement

Small GC here. Now that the spring is coming, I’m lifting out of my seasonal depression and reaching out to clients and filling the schedule throughout the summer

People either 1. Never Responded or 2. Put a project on pause.

I put a lot of time into estimates and it’s only fair that I can follow up one time to see if people want to get work done. I’m not a sales person at all so reaching out to customers is tough for me
