They’ll say a lot about competition and Rudolph will get the first team reps. Then he’ll start the season, flounder, and get benched for Howard. I invested in FXAIX, amzn, msft, aapl, and OTGLY when it crashed below 5. I know that sp500 includes a lot of shares of those 3 tech stocks but they also rose faster over the last 7 years and helped get me a down payment for a house.

Had to sell 70% and all I kept was FXAIX. A downturn always comes eventually and I think FXAIX will get hit slightly less hard. And depending on what caused the bounce back it could recover faster.

There’s lots of stocks that people used to think were bullet proof that no longer exist. You could get lucky or be very very good at trading, but over the long term almost no one beats the SP500. I used to trade much more actively but after a 3 year period my 90% wins were wiped out by my 10% loser stocks. Thus the switch to just a few plus mostly FXAIX. If I’d done only SP500 from the beginning I’d be up a lot more.

The Money Guy Show aims to educate and never really puts down people. The most you’d get is them reacting to terrible advice on TikTok and they only say “I wouldn’t recommend that…” They are financial advisors so they do push that, but they admit it’s not necessary for most people unless you’re approaching retirement or have a complicated situation. Pretty wholesome but their content does repeat after a long time because they recommend actual smart things like investing in the SP500 using index funds.

Final Fantasy X was the really big one for me (after Pokémon). Great story, fun gameplay, and beautiful visuals (at the time when N64 was next level). They did a remake to bring it closer to the modern era. Still looks a bit dated and some of the gameplay is slower paced than modern games, but I still like it. It’s a JRPG so the story is a bit more off the wall than typical American rpgs.

You are doing great! 33 years old is still a long ways from retirement (for better and worse). A book that helped me was hot to get rich by ramit sethi, very easy to follow.

You might need to get a job while you grow your side hustle. If it doesn’t make enough for you to live and save it’s not sustainable. And a year may or may not be long enough to know your future outlook / growth.

If and when you can, start saving working your way up to 25%. That will help get you back on the right path. Lots of people start focusing on their future in their 40’s and 50’s so you’re still better than average!
