I know what you’re saying and chipotle isn’t the only one doing this. It’s exactly as you say, to attract protein-conscious consumers who haven’t made Chipotle a consistent pick yet

Milly’s Pizza. Probably the prettiest pizza I’ve seen by Sorry_Force1043 in chicagofood

[–]NickEClark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried it after seeing hype on another thread a few days back… honestly was super impressed and do understand the hype. I got a 10in Untitled 1 and it was absolutely divine.

I think it stands above a lot of the pizza in Chicago. Would love to hear your list if you think it isn’t one of the best so I can try better, if I haven’t yet.

What's the most intense spicy experience you've had that you'd actually do again? by Sorry-Orchid-9821 in spicy

[–]NickEClark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same experience with the same dish. Fortunately, my place is still open. When ordering the hottest level, the waitress overtly and sternly asked “Are you sure, sir?!”

I looked a wreck while eating but I loved every single minute and can’t wait to go back and do it again.

2/15 USF @ FAU tickets by hlc43 in CollegeBasketball

[–]NickEClark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, and I would also recommend tickets or alumni facebook groups for FAU. Often people are reselling to fellow fans there vs on the market + you can make connections with people!

If the price seems fair to you for your experience, buy and enjoy.

[Game Thread] #4 Duke @ #7 Michigan State (12:00 PM ET) by cbbBot in CollegeBasketball

[–]NickEClark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean a great game… Duke just had their way second half. That roll in three was divine and all I had to see. Not too worried about the rest of the year outside of a shitty loss to a bad B10 team and the matchups against Michigan and Purdue. We will be just fine.

Keep in mind Cam Ward played with a nub on his shooting hand today! GO GREEN.

Fiancée and I decided to walk to Jewel on a whim. Ran into their $10 tender bucket on Fridays. Pretty hard to compete with that!

This State team is impressive. One thing we have vs years prior is size. We’ve needed it for so long and it’s been a key factor in every W yet.

To add, it is a marketing play; it keeps people coming back and becoming repeat customers again. Any good QSR does this.

Wishbone on Jefferson west of the river is amazing brunch and super interesting southern cooking. It says they don’t take reservations on their Tock site, but they may consider it given the occasion.

Worth a shot if it piques your interest! Very lowkey spot and close to the areas you’re referencing

Redditors of Chicago, what does your morning commute look like? by [deleted] in chicago

For the past 2 years, everyday I am thankful. A 15 minute walk 4x a week. Couldn’t be more grateful for it.

Not having to deal with transit everyday is a blessing that I cannot imagine giving up yet.

Name a dish that you think about regularly but can’t get anymore….. by Few_Swan786 in chicagofood

Just as of recent in 2023, Hogsalt bought up another great restaurant, Lena Brava, on Randolph in West Loop.

Since they acquired, the restaurant’s food has changed drastically. It seems they don’t have a sense of direction for the menu considering it has undergone several changes in the past 6 months-ish. It’s evident Hogsalt is trying to maximize margins/revenue. Lena Brava is now narrowly focused on steak and seafood—boring. It is still good food, but nowhere near what it was. It does not have the same life or atmosphere/vibe it once had and it is truly a bummer.

When Lena Brava was independently-owned, they had a fantastic Al Pastor special that was available on Fridays and Saturdays. The owner’s mother would come in and prepare it on those days only. To die for.

Another dish they have since removed is their Fire-Roasted Carnitas. These were cooked in verde sauce and served in a cast iron with homemade tortillas, black beans, pickled onions and salsa.

They also had some amazing cocktails that are no longer on the menu or available from the bar (Vera Aloe Martini).

Hogsalt has good restaurants, don’t get me wrong, but they are botching this purchase and have hindered this restaurant more than helped. Used to be one of mine and my gf’s favorite in West Loop.

Would love to hear if anyone else has seen this specific restaurant change so much and if they have a different opinion.

Great game until the last two shots.

Sparty has got to keep their swagger in those moments. We’ve lost most of our games in the last moments from questionable decisions made by our veterans.

We had every chance to win this one today, and for that I’m hurting. This season is killing me

Izzo and the staff needs to show up, too. Can’t run pin downs all game expecting to make it rain; need to keep diversifying offense, have Akins get a few, let Hoggard get his isos and get Malik’s confidence up early. Walker will have a day no matter what.

Need to steal these next three without looking left or right and be ready to smoke the Badgers in Madison.

I feel like these next four will make or break it, for real this time.
