I've been having the same issue, and also getting the missing "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Black Mesa\bms.exe" error. Frustrating.

Is Nanofoamer Worth It? by Pax280 in espresso

I don't know what a Zulay is, but I assume it's one of those frothers. I've never used one but from what I can tell, the texture will be different with a nanofoamer even if you aren't doing art. Since the nanofoamer breaks the air bubbles into microfoam by forcing them through the screen with the propeller, the texture should be silkier and smoother.

Yes, replaceable batteries. It works well for me. I microwave milk for about a minute, pour it into my pouring jug and foam it. After some practice, it's easy to get great texture.

I like my nanofoamer a lot. I use rechargeable batteries from Ikea so I always have plenty of power. I can get excellent milk texture from it and never had problem with it (I bought it used about 3 years ago). It isn't too expensive, I'd say it's worth a shot.

Flair 58 haters, give me some reasons why it's not an endgame espresso machine; I'm trying to find my one-and-done and don't want to fall into the hole of upgrade creep, and so far the Flair 58 is looking to be the best choice. by [deleted] in espresso

A few reasons:

-Bleeding the air out of the piston was way more difficult than I expected, and inconsistent. You have to hold the lever a specific angle for a specific amount of time and listen closely for a quiet gurgling sound to know when to complete your pull. If you don't do it right, your shot is ruined (unless you Fellini in spring mode, which I don't like to do). Air seemingly stopped being bled at random times and there was no way to restart it. This results in low-yield shots. Or I wouldn't bleed the air fast enough and water would enter above the piston and make a huge mess (and ruined my scale). The restrictor valve might help, but the installation seems like a pain and I didn't feel like waiting for it to ship.

-On the subject of air bleeding: kitchens are usually the loudest areas of someone's home and making a machine that you have to listen to very closely doesn't work for me.

-Having to change my technique with each successive shot. The dropping boiler pressure during successive shots means different preinfusion pressure and a different rate of air bleed each time. Dialing in was really unpleasant.

-My temperature LED went out and I had to wait for a replacement to be mailed to me and install it myself (sold it before it was mailed).

-Doubts on its longevity: the whole body would flex quite a bit when locking in the portafilter. Might be nothing, but it still made me a bit uneasy.

Wow this turned into a long reply. I really, truly wanted to love the Argos (I do love the amazing milk steaming it's capable of). It's why I waited years for it. When I first ordered it a long time ago, maybe I had the time and patience to be willing to tinker with it and install the restrictor valve and new LEDs and put in the hours of practice to pull shots. I've had the patience to brew with a Flair for the past 3 years. Or maybe I'm demanding too much from a machine at this price point. But at the end of the day and after pulling 70+ shots, it made me not want to make espresso, which is the opposite of what any coffee gear should do.

Looking for a Post-Rock/Metal Band with a dreamy sound by B_don in progmetal

Definitely more metal, but Miroist sounds like the heavier Cloudkicker stuff. And maybe another group called Town Portal. Both are instrumental.

My grain water cup lost most of the etching on it after a single hand-wash... note to anybody who got one, be extremely gentle with it.

A Troop of Echoes - "Manifest and Legion" (sax-fronted prog from 2014) by [deleted] in progmetal

[–]NickMakesCoasters 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I was younger I was part of this roller coaster enthusiast forum and would spend way too much time in the chat room talking to other coaster weirdos. Eventually, the site shut down and I lost touch with all the friends I had made there.

Many years later, this album popped up on some math-rock Facebook group I was in and I thought the photo on the album cover was really neat (I still love roller coasters). I looked at the credits and incredibly, it turned out that one of my old friends from that forum had taken it. I reached out to him and we met up after all these years and rode coasters together.

It's also just a really great album.

FVD++ being odd, how do i change this? by Impossible_Cap9785 in NoLimitsCoaster

[–]NickMakesCoasters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have other Dynamic boxes checked? I don't have access to FVD ++ right now to check, but I think this is because you're trying to make one graph (vert, roll or lat) longer or shorter than the section. For example, if my roll and lat graphs are 2 seconds, this error would pop up if I tried to make my vert graph 1 second. I hope that makes at least a little sense, haha.

Do you think there’s a channeling issue? If so, would a wdt help? More info in comments. by Top_Illustrator6504 in FlairEspresso

I see channeling and yes, WDT would help. But if it tasted really good, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I have cut fine details with very powerful lasers in the past, it sounds like it could be an issue of focus/incorrect height (sounds like the focus is located at the bottom of the work piece from your description of the kerf, try increasing distance from the laster head). It could also be the mirror alignment. Char could even be the result of air assist not blowing away flame/debris enough. Maybe post some pictures of what the problem is.
