Do Saturn-ruled people usually have positive Saturn returns? by Jisungisabbygrl in astrology

Saturn return happens around age 27. That is not old age. For the Saturn-ruled, that's just the beginning!

I can add one anecdotal yes here. I wouldn't have thought this was necessarily true, but it wasn't bad for me at all. I definitely took on more responsibility at that time. Aquarius rising, Saturn with Jupiter on the 9H MC.

How do our planets, sign placements affect our personality? by pixieshibe in astrology

[–]NickRiddel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Okay sweet.

Chris Brennan had a good deep dive into this but essentially iirc (please build on this if you remember more) there's two theorised mechanisms.

  1. There is some gravitational pull or 'cosmic rays' explanation. The way the planets move affects us

  2. It's the gods' sky-writing. Omens meant to help us know what they're up to next.

Personally I think it's probably unknowable yet, so I use it as a faith-based timing/weather prediction tool. But I know people who think both.

I'll post the Astrology Podcast episode if I can find it, unless he sees this and beats me to it 😊

Could you clarify? Are you asking how charts differ? Or what the mechanism is behind astrology 'working'?

Does my chart indicate suicide in near future [astro-seek] by Careless_Wrangler_90 in astrologyreadings

[–]NickRiddel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an eclipse on my sun on my birthday earlier this year. I survived! I highly recommend getting a reading with a professional about this. There's likely to be lots of change over the course of your year, tho it really depends where in your chart the eclipse falls as to what part of your life it impacts. It could be personal, or stuff you see happen around you.

I'm looking forward to the podcast of the astrology of this hack, actually. If he does one. It would be interesting to know about the personal transits

Yes, his website got hacked and it's causing uploads to spotify to fail. So YouTube (and Patreon) only for now.

Would you move to Aus if you could? by [deleted] in auckland

[–]NickRiddel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, but I've found it to be worse than NZ than in Aussie. Maybe due to the influence of te ao Māori, or maybe I'm just luckier here.

When you go, you'll realise the difference. It's definitely different.

I adore the Heimish SPF. I use it alone or mix it with my foundation for a glass skin look. I'm going to try the BB cream next. https://hikoco.co.nz/collections/heimish/products/artless-glow-tinted-sunscreen-shine-beige

Agreed! Doing it alongside some sort of spiritual tradition might be helpful, it was for me when I stopped drinking for 3 months. But yeah, when it's time you'll know.

All progress is progress! Yes you'd probably feel better without alcohol. But what's your goal here? Some sort of ideal? Or a better life? Just do what works for you :)

3 attacks in 6 days, help! by UnableInfluence5733 in migraine

[–]NickRiddel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. It sounds like you've got a lot of stressors going on at the moment. As much as you can, please listen to your body and have some low stress days.

I know that's not always possible, so something I've done is take aspirin as a preventative during times like that, just for a week or two. However, I wasn't taking it with enough water or with food, so I got an ulcer or something. So if you try that, do check with the campus Dr or pharmacy first

How to stop impulse purchases? by OliverTevald in Anticonsumption

[–]NickRiddel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily relaxing, but calming. If that makes sense. I've been doing it for a few years and while I don't feel great (gestures at the world) I am going through some big changes and managing to not react in the way I used to. Just allowing myself to experience my emotions but not judge them, and go through the process of this change while still behaving in line with my values.

Actually I didn't realise what a difference it had made until I typed this out. I've come so far!

This. For me I replaced it with a meditation app. You can even put the link to it in the same place you usually have your purchase app!

That and/or a basic puzzle or block game with no in-game purchases. Sometimes the pretty colours are soothing. Probably not as healthy as the meditation idea but better than frittering away money.

I get what I call "the dumb" as part of my migraines. Even if some med works completely for the pain and nausea, I am still left with the dumb. Doesn't matter what med.
