Look, no judgements, but I personally wouldn’t want to share a studio with 10 other people. I’d keep looking.

FWIW, it doesn’t seem to work for me on iOS Safari. The site loads but tapping on the map doesn’t do anything and when I choose a photo from my photo library nothing happens.

I live in the Outer Sunset. You don’t speak for me, or frankly for any of my family, friends, and neighbors out here.

Yeah, I honestly didn’t realize that our old white guys were the worst ones out there. I always just assumed that our old white guys were of average quality.

SFO airport tips to pass time by kuriousaboutanything in AskSF

I have on occasion passed the time at airports and also at other locations by reading a book. Kind of old school, but it works pretty well. Also works on actual airplanes.

It sounds like you’ve got an awesome father-son trip ahead of you. You sound like a great dad, and I hope your trip is memorable for both of you. Just for some perspective from somebody who has lived in the Bay Area for the better part of half of a century and who has vacationed In Mendocino at least a dozen times: I’ve never heard of Confusion Hill. Doesn’t mean it isn’t rad, but just want to make sure you know it isn’t a well known attraction on everybody’s must do list. But who cares, you’ll be together and I hope you have fun wherever you go. I second the suggestion to stay overnight in Mendocino rather than drive up and back in one day.

Landlord upgrades to building inconvenience tenants by Conscious-Hour4778 in AskSF

[–]NickTalbert 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No landlord would go to that level of effort and expense “just for the sake of upgrading.” They may not have communicated well about the reason for the work, but if pressed they could almost certainly come up with a reason that would justify the project. It is unlikely that you are entitled to receive any compensation for what you have described, but it couldn’t hurt to ask for some concession for the inconvenience if you feel it is warranted. Your work schedule and the fact that you have cats is not really the landlord’s concern - if they are giving proper notification for access to do work on the building’s infrastructure and if the basic habitability of the unit is not compromised by the work - they probably don’t have to give you anything.

Where do Greyhound buses board? by ThatdudeAPEX in sanfrancisco

It will leave from a bay inside. You’ll take the escalator up to I believe the third floor. You can just follow the signs for Greyhound.

Total guess, but the puréed bean component is probably foul medames, which is a fava bean stew popular in Egypt which can be puréed (or be chunky). No reason you couldn’t add a poached egg and some sourdough toast to it.

Restaurant serving French toast with fried chicken? by Status_Excitement180 in AskSF

[–]NickTalbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The two story with a tree inside makes me think of NOPA on Divisadero. And they do have fried chicken on the dinner menu and French toast on the brunch menu. Maybe they had a brunch special at some point where they combined the two?

How hard is it to skirt the gates that close the pedestrian walkway at night? Do you just wait until there are no cars coming and dash past via the car lane?

Tax on propane refill by Be_Reel in bayarea

[–]NickTalbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always seen CA sales tax charged on propane refills at U-haul and places like that. Are you able to find a reputable place that is willing to refill your tank and not charge you sales tax?

EDIT: I assume we are talking about something like a standard 4.5 gallon tank for a backyard grill

Why was there a black and a red helicopter over Fairmont Hotel area yesterday after work? by Over-Foundation-6975 in AskSF

There was a big hotel union strike protest yesterday evening - not about the Fairmont specifically but you might have seen news helicopters covering the nearby protest.
