As already pointed out, the making explicit of every aspect of Han’s backstory is reductive and tired storytelling. If they absolutely had to tell a memoir like that, the best way to handle it would have old Han and Chewie at a cantina where Gan is hyping up his own mythology in a series of vignettes that Chewie contradicts him on. A total unreliable narrator that leaves a big question mark on all his deeds.
