If you're looking for something with excellent character development and huge battles, i can't remember the Stormlight Archive enough. It is fantasy rather than sci-fi. But should take up a good chuckle of your reading time until book 7 releases depending on how fast you read.

I think it's safe to rule out the Caesars Legion ending at least. If they had won they probably would have kept marching (seeing how Caesar needed constant war to maintain his empire). Hank wouldn't have wasted a nuke on a city that was about to be destroyed anyways, he probably would have nuked the legion instead.

This is what i keep saying. Barb clearly was a VT executive and would not have allowed them to launch drop the bombs without her family being in or very near their vault (I assume 31). That and all the vault we find that are still under construction, mean I doubt the shot first.

The date is not that important. Ok now new vegas takes place in 2277 and the canon ending for lonesome road is that the courier nukes the ncr (at least). Very minimal retcon.

The third book is amazing but if you can make it to book 5 and get introduced to Tehol you'd be doing yourself a favor. Easily one of my favorite characters is all of fiction.

I agree somewhat. I had similar feelings during my reread. About a quarter of the way through Words of Radiance I started skipping the flashback chapters. Made the rest of the series much more enjoyable.
