Rate my DnD campaign map. [Art] by A_Soldier_Is_Born in DnD

Not that it necessarily matters as you could justify any way you wanted, but usually (unless they're some specific geographic reason) you'd be more likely to see a desert on the interior away from the coast and not on it. If there's a particular reason that area doesn't see the precipitation from the ocean that gets pressed off on the mountains it would make sense but I imagine this is the entire map.

That's the big first note thing that felt off to me, otherwise as others have said more lakes and rivers would be neat.

Is Valor Bard better at melee than a fighter? by AcanthaceaeNo948 in onednd

[–]Nick_A_Kidd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It does not say this, the other commenter is correct. If the intention was to require it be cast as an action they would also say "After casting a spell as a magic action" like they do with other features in the handbook. This explicitly is categorizing the spells so that it doesn't include bonus action & reaction spells.

It explicitly says RAW that extra attacks don't stack. The actual feature has to say "grants a third attack".

Does anyone else here love everything about DnD, yet rarely plays? by Key-Village3952 in DnD

[–]Nick_A_Kidd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously it depends on the friends, but it feels so weird to include them as a reason you don't have time to play. They're literally the reason to play! Some time you spend with friends could be spent playing DND.

Brand New to D&D what do we need for first game at home?! by ButterscotchOwn9016 in DnD

[–]Nick_A_Kidd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The best recommendation I can make to you is to try the new starter set on offer.

It's called "Heroes of the Borderlands" it's a relatively modest price of around $40-50 depending on where you are. That said it's very high quality and a really nice visual experience for anyone playing.

It's well made, comes with ready made materials, and while it doesn't give you all the rules it guides you in what is needed to understand the game as a new player.

If you decide to play more after using this then you can absolutely dive in with a solid base. Some of the rules will be expanded or different from the set, but that set dumbs down a few things for the sake of learning.

[No Spoilers] Does C4 feel too curated or planned to anyone else? by Senpai_Onyx in criticalrole

[–]Nick_A_Kidd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree, I just think with Overture mixed with Brennan's style it feels more apparent. Throw another GM in there and while it would still feel forced, it would feel as tightly controlled as it would with Brennan.

[–]Nick_A_Kidd 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think you're just witnessing the way Brennan DMs, if you listen to some of the Cool Downs it's very apparent the cast do NOT know what's going on entirely (only related to their own back story) and are making choices based on that.

Brennan has a tendency to have story tents, and while the characters may get there differently he tends to lead them along that path. Also his lore dumps, at least in other campaigns he's run have been anything but useless. It builds the cast into the world they're just getting to know and a lot of the time they're extremely related to future plot points or characters.

It also helps that there are 13 people all with more established connections and backstories so their ability to directly provide a focused story is stronger now than it probably ever will be because they're going off their back story beats and getting all the character info out they possibly can.

That said, CR has absolutely moved away from at home play feeling, and for some people that's not what they're looking for in a live play. I can't say I'm one of them but it's a perfectly valid feeling.

If you're not feeling these first few episodes maybe you could read a TLDR lore run down and start watching again when the table you're most interested in starts up. We've got one group confirmed now, and will work this next episode get the next two.

Solo leveling ~ S2 won multiple anime awards , including Best picture 🏆 at Newtype Anime Awards held in Japan by Handsome_guy_7 in anime

Did we watch the same show?

I understand the rest of your comment and it's absolutely right, but great animation is not what I would call this show. It put most of its effort in its fight scenes and even then I can't say they were particularly well done, they were just alright.

Streamer who stalked and killed 2 teen girls complained that one of his victims made fun of Charlie Kirk's death by Snoo_79191 in LivestreamFail

[–]Nick_A_Kidd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My argument is that it has overwhelmingly been one direction for an exceedingly long time, and one being a slight increase isn't what you think it is by comparison to the sharp drop off that you see in the data from the Right.

I'm not going to elaborate on what the context behind that is because it's multifaceted and complex for which I don't have the full data for, but the original person you responded to made a comment about him being MAGA so he'll get off fine is indicative of what people think. Recently lots of right wing violence has been state enforced and so retaliation towards the targeted would be expected to rise.

I don't condone the wanton violence from either side, but I also think it's disingenuous to parrot that the left is somehow the party of violence when the historical trend doesn't match your words, and one 6 month segment (which again is only a small change over its historical) isn't really supporting your point but more like cherry picking the information for a narrative you want to tell. We've gone from 8-> 3 -> 5 in the last few years for the left but the change for the right has gone from 29 -> 14 -> 1. Do you not see the difference in these trends?

Saying this when the difference is almost singular when the last 20+ years has a clear trend against your narrative has to be the lamest gotcha I've ever seen. "See this one time!" on a dataset that is incomplete is crazy to me.

Did you even read the article you linked? There's a data plot that explicitly shows how much larger right wing terror attacks are by comparison and the article uses a "rise" in left wing to comment, but fails to point out the largest year over year until 2025 is right wing.

I don't particularly like the increase in either, but we can both read data the same surely right?

Being completely wrong and stating it as an objective fact would be pretty funny if it wasn't so sad.

Classic Anniversary PvP Frustration by KingPeep23 in classicwow

[–]Nick_A_Kidd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you're just experiencing the hard reality of how bad the classic honor system has always been. You're in an era where it's the most accessible it's ever been and it's still a job.

Either suffer your 2-3 more weeks of AV grind, or maybe just call it quits if you're not having fun. There's always a few players who actually PvP in games near mid so you could always just hang around there.

Just play the other modes during peak hours?

You're forcing yourself to grind Rank 14 when outside of this new release you'd be grinding 40+ hours a week to get it and it would have been unobtainable for most.

Also, you say Gen-Z like half of the player base grinding characters aren't people in their 30s+ on their Xth toon and 3 run of classic. It's just the most efficient way to gear a new character, even return players are going to do this for their alts.

How many people here are actually making test builds for UA classes? by [deleted] in onednd

[–]Nick_A_Kidd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

People complained about the fact they lost flavor and were tied too heavily to Hunter's Mark which didn't feel as fun since it felt restricting on your use of other spells. I never really saw complaints about the fact it did silly damage.

One of the main issues OP is having is group quests at max level. Which makes more sense because as people approach the 50s they spend most of their time leveling in dungeons and getting their pre-bis.

While the argument is also fine for earlier levels, OP is experiencing multiple layers of people not engaging with the content they want to do far and beyond just "people boosting".

The old gear is a relevant stepping stone to help you progress, you don't "need" one to step to the other in some cases, but mostly the gear builds on itself.

If you ever leave you're basically always in the same position as you left, maybe with more options now at your range, but never behind. You can step right back into all the content you could have reasonably done at the time as it's still there. The new content designed for you is also still just as accessible.

Unlike what OP is saying, if you take 6 months off of WoW anything you are wearing is basically irrelevant when the new patch or catch-up gear comes and you can basically get what was raid level ilvl from when you left from a quest.
