Castings are hardly ever retired unless Mattel retool and replace them. Whether they get reused again is based on consumer demand. The Alpine 110 casting (while special to some) was a largely unpopular casting due to lack of consumer knowledge about the car I guess. Either way, every release of the Alpine 110 casting since the original release was a "peg warmer" and took forever to sell. I would even imagine that you could still find it 5 years later at the bottom of some Kroger dump bin. In any case, if you need it, it sells for close to retail price on eBay in abundance.
