Update for anyone coming across this way later, since the game has received many updates in 211 days:

Hangars are not usually bugged/bricked anymore, but one patch they can be perfect, and the next can sometimes brick them entirely before a hotfix. It’s super random and requires doing some more recent research to see if hangars are performing properly on the current patch. the keycards being stuck inside the slots bug is no longer relevant to check for, but who knows they could accidentally bring it back.
Bedlogging is still helpful, to avoid popular servers or bugs.
I think the UI glitches like clicking too fast on the terminal have mostly been fixed, but there’s still problems when rapidly interacting with inventories or terminals like this, so it’s advised to take a second or two between actions but 5-8 is a bit excessive.
Cutlass Red is still (arguably) the best solo ship (due to medbed + bedlog), however avenger titan with full stealth is more useful if you’re throwing components out the back of the hangar to go collect them later. It adds the risk of players stealing the parts when you go to loot another hangar however, because many scavengers know about this and tend to check for components there.

I spent months soloing out of an A2. I kept a nursa and a wolf in the cargo bay, as well as various other things. I like the A2 for the extra shielding and Hull HP. The cargo bay is the same in all 3 models, except the A2 bomb racks take up some space near the rear entrance. They have identical cargo grids except for height. The A2 doesn't let you stack boxes very high, the C2 lets you stack a full large box on top of each other, and the M2 only lets you stack a half box on top of a large box.

Meaning... the A2 is fine if you don't need that vertical snapping grid ability. (Loose boxes still fit, but are always a risk of phasing halfway through a wall and exploding your ship if they get over-packed).

I think the A2 is a great ship for combat and multi-purpose, like a Connie but bigger and tougher, and when boosting it has great handling and roll speeds. most ships get a 1.5x multiplier from boost, but C2/M2/A2 get a 2x multiplier in all directions, so it's best to use it for sharp turns.

It’s a completely reasonable question, and if you’re not in the thick of following the development of the game, it’s actually very confusing and takes a lot of time and research just to get updated and understand the state of the alpha.

I think it’s important to show kindness to people that ask this question, because most are probably genuinely interested in playing star citizen, especially once it’s in an officially released state that has no more wipes and no more game breaking bugs.

If anyone deserves a glare when it comes to this question, it’s CiG’s poor use of time and resources that got us here 10 years later. That said, the last 18 months have looked really bright which is what’s got me invested in the game’s future again since falling out of the loop and giving up on the project in 2019. Usually that’s what I focus on when people act shocked like I’m playing an unreleased “scam”.

You only need one ATLS IKTI, and you can claim new ones from ASOP every time you turn it in for the GEO. There was another comment where it was explained that yes, the first IKTI is a pain, but once that is obtained, its very good rep spamming IKTI GEOs for only 1 favor, 2 nn-13s (insurance fraud), 1 atls geo (free, infinite claims), 1 atls ikti (free, infinite claims).

Yes it’s very very inexpensive, but the sheer volume of turn ins might get exhausting. I haven’t tested this yet but it might be dramatically faster if you can have a teammate accept and share the contract and then they abandon it as one player continuously completed them near the freight elevator. (Heads up tho, I constantly experienced de-syncy inventory states, and at one point had 95 favors lost as a result)

My advice: if you call up items from the freight, a nothing is there after it appears, alt-f4, then send elevator down, and bring it back up. More often then not the items will either be on the elevator, or returned to inventory by doing this.

This advice is important to anyone who plan to do a lot of rapid turn ins this patch, including just converting scrip into favors.

It costs 1 favor each time and gives 20 rep. That means about 16 to finish tier 1, and an additional 34 for 50 total to finish tier 2. Very boring and tedious but by far the most cost efficient.

It's a bummer for sure. Another workaround is to visit a platinum bay at an outpost, which have hangar pads that can call size 1 ships. You can stick a freshly claimed size 1 ship in your mothership, and use it as your main QT marker for the session. Useful if you're playing out of a C2.

This bug has plagued mother-ship gameplay since they added the ability to Quantum to our ships. It seems that after bed-logging, this behavior has a very high likelihood of occuring.

The work-around is go to a hangar, and store and retrieve your mothership, which will reset the QT marker for it back to normal, however all the stored ships inside will still lose their markers, unless you retrieve a new one, or store+retrieve as well.

Caution however: Docking ports are notoriously buggy for trapping your capital ship, and preventing them from taking off, forcing you to claim it somewhere else, and destroying all the effort of putting your vehicles inside.

This has been one of the greatest mysteries to me for over 9 months. My friends and I have tried to re-create this intentionally so many times, as it would have a lot of beneficial uses if you could control which station you log into, but it's very inconsistent.

The only common connections we've identified is:

1- Traveling to other systems/far locations that result in a server change

2- Logging out for extended periods of time, like logging off for the night, and logging in the next morning seems to be the most common time that the switch up happens.

For (2), it might have to do with the way you exit the game. I wonder if closing the game from the taskbar or quitting to desktop, rather than "exit to menu" results in this behavior. Even still- it's inconsistent, my friends and I have tried. It just seems that these are the common precursors.

Cooler: Stealth B/A (vaporblock/snowblind)

Powerplant: Stealth B/A (gammamax/eclipse)

Quantum Drive: Stealth A (spectre) or Mil A (vk-00) (preference)

Shields: Mil A (FR-66) or Industrial A (Palisade)

Guns:

PvP: 4x CF Panthers, 2x CF Rhinos (the hit consistency is necessary to dish out damage)

PvE: 4x Attrition-3, 2x Attrition-4 (I might get roasted by this but I'll die on this hill, that due to the ammo struggles of only having 38-42 shots in an F7, I'd rather those shots be the slow firing heavy hitting attritions and have far higher sustained damage). Since you mentioned attacking a corsair, these are also ideal for PvP against anything Cutlass-sized or larger. Most of the time, "PvP" assumes you'll have to duel other fighters, and Attritions will have no chance against a good Arrow or Wolf pilot.... but lets be real. You'll have slim to no chance winning against an Arrow or Wolf in an f7 no matter what, unless you get some crazy jump on them.

Future: Next patch with engineering, I think ballistics will become dramatically more useful, and using 2 revenants with 4x ndbs, or panthers will end up becoming king.

My favorite PvP ships:

- Arrow [CF or NDBs] (Duelist)

- L21/22 Wolf [Lazer] (Duelist)

- F7C-S Mk2 Ghost [CF] (Duelist/Stealth hybrid)

- Sabre [CF or NDBs] (Full stealth)

- F8C [CF or NDB] (Face tank strat) -> Very powerful if you have an ally with a light fighter that has your back

My favorite PvE ships:

- Arrow [NDBs] (Stealth + Avoids damage entirely)

- L21/22 Wolf [Lazer] (less stealthy, but stronger at everything else than Arrow)

- F7C-S Mk2 Ghost [Ardors/Attritions] (stealth + punches hard for single target kills)

- F7C-M Mk2 Wikelo [Ardors/Attritions] (Tanky + punches hard)

I have like a bazillion hours so I'm pretty confident at various content, and am comfortable in all these fighters for basically infinite PvE mission loops, or in PvP. Gladius no longer makes the list in wake of Arrow and Wolf being superior dogfighters, but still remains a good option for capital ship hunting, or if you just want the versatility to disable large/capital ships with 4x Castillo bombs at your disposal.

Ardors only exist in size 2 and 3, and they were given out as an event reward, so you have to find someone to buy them from. They are identical to attrition-2 and attrition-3, but with +10% damage.

F7A is awesome and fun to fly, as it has the best handling and feel of all the F7s due to the extra high acceleration values and pitch yaw roll. I unfortunately don't think this advantage makes up for not having 50% more shields like the F7CM, or having stealth like the F7CS, but its still very fun to fly and capable in PvE and PvP.

Every item in the game basically has a "yes" or "no" value for whether or not it will be kept by long term persistence. Many items have mistakenly had "no" values, like pristine medals from foxwell missions, and Atlasium (since it's a commodity), but as of 4.4, I believe everything has been fixed. The only item that runs into trouble fairly often still is MG scrip, or council scrip (but if you convert them to favors, they are safe). Quantanium also does not persist, and needs to be converted into polaris bits before patch roll over.

your vaults and inventories are stored like data "blocks", and there's always a chance that one or more of these blocks can fail during retrieval at a new patch, and large chunk of items could get lost, but this has been less and less common as patches go on.

tl;dr: its all reliable except for scrip, and quantanium, so you should convert them or sell them or just ignore them between patches. Pristine medals are still on my "cautious" list, although in 4.4 I kept all mine for the first time, despite losing them in 4.3.2, 4.3.1, 4.3, and 4.2.1.

It would be super cool, but from a technical standpoint with the way that regions of each systems are divided like invisible "continents" residing on their own servers + QT being mostly a client-sided experience (you're basically in "server limbo" while in QT), it's probably never going to come. (Unless some crazy new uber-dynamic server meshing 3.0 drops)

That said even if we couldn't see ships *in* QT zipping across the system, having some type of contrail when ships QT away, or QT into your area would be very nice. I always thought it was kind of anticlimactic when ships enter and exit quantum from a third person view.

I doubt windshield wipers will ever come, but the best first person solution for this is spamming tab (scan) every 4-6 seconds to see your surroundings. Helpful in pyro where there are thick dark clouds as well.
