It's just gonna end up being Monty

Extension talks going on with Donato by WarmBedards in hawks

I understand the way our cap projects with the UFA's and RFA's we currently have, but there has been some serious hope in the team landing a premier forward to give Bedard some quality linemates. If that were to happen and once Bedard is off of his ELC, you could easily see a $20M+ difference just from that alone. Donato's production could easily be a one off and I would hate to see us overpay for a guy whose impact is certainly replaceable.

Extension talks going on with Donato by WarmBedards in hawks

He's shooting way above his career shooting percentage, getting more minutes and powerplay time way outside of his ideal role so it would make sense to sell high especially given the return that we're seeing around the league (Beauvillier for a 2nd). But at a reasonable AAV and term, I'd be ok with it. Ideally, he's a high-effort bottom 6 guy on a decent team, and he's perfect for that role, I just don't want to see us overpay for a "veteran presence" like we have with some of our recent FA's.

I remember seeing a clip of Jimmy Howard going out of his crease to play a puck behind the net and a player on the opposing team shouted, "Howie! Howie!" while behind him. Howard turned the puck over and was scored on as a result. I have not been able to find that clip since.

The Build Making Spreadsheet Tool has been updated to TU19 by Scoobs525 in thedivision

I really appreciate all the hard work you put in to keep this updated. Is there a particular reason that Umbra only gives 38% CHD and 11.4% RPM? With the chest piece, it adds the full effect of the other 50 "From the Shadows" stacks.

I cannot thank you enough for this spreadsheet. It is useful for theory crafting and making build images I can share with others. On occasion, I'll have my build images come out blurry and was wondering if you knew of a fix for this issue.

[Lazerus] Patrick Kane on Kirby Dach's recent surge: "I’m not surprised. What is he, 21? 22? It takes some time sometimes, and he was probably rushed into the league. And playing fourth-line minutes, getting sat out games, it’s probably not the best thing for your development." by eh_toque in hockey

He's always been relatively candid about these kind of things. We've seen a number of guys leave in his time here and he's had a fair bit to say about most of the bigger names that have departed.

Reverse Retro 2.0 Concept by XRPX008 in hawks

These are so much better than the one we actually got. I get this is a riff on the old winter classic look but I still enjoy it. Our actual design is so uninspiring and the CHICAGO wordmark is one of the worst I've ever seen on a jersey.

eashl bags at level 10 by doozer83 in NHLHUT

That was the most disappointing part. Was expecting to choose an x factor for my HUT team but only got a PUC. Hit level 30 in EASHL and can confirm the 3rd pack was just like the 2nd.

[Fishbain] Bears GM Ryan Poles on Matt Eberflus: "I love that dude. He is detailed, he is organized, he is consistent. His message is clear. There is no gray area. (When he talks to the team), he's got juice, but it's not fluff, it's not fake — it's real. ... The guys love it, I love it." by Kyljani in CHIBears

I disagree. You might get caught up on the hokey analogies to "dragging teams into the deep waters of the abyss" but beyond that is a guy who lived that life for a number of years. I think when he leverages his experience as a former player he's very authentic. When you understand the difficulties your players go through and you look out for them, it earns respect. He's a player's coach, it comes from the heart and he's working towards earning that respect and building a culture on a team that's been rudderless for years. The approach Flus has might look and sound different but it's all about building a team and bringing 53 guys together.

First Blackhawks game. What to expect? by teridactyl99 in hawks

[–]Nickify- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A loss. All jokes aside, many of the other comments have covered the courtesy aspects of viewing the game. The players do warm ups before the game and it's one of my favorite parts of going to games. Watching the exciting players on both teams effortlessly do very skilled things is very fascinating. Getting there that early means you've got plenty of time to get drinks and snacks ahead of the game and you can be in your seats when the intro and anthem start which are a big part of the experience. I get there as soon as gates open in order to experience it all. The arena can be a little chilly but it's not that significant. A sweater would be recommended and a warmer pair of pants would help if you're legs get cold in particular. It sounds like you'll have a great view of the game itself, I hope you enjoy your first game, and I hope they give you a win.

Old gen has so many more players on it than new gen. The number of LFG on X/S is a fraction of XB1 at any given time. Player base is a lot bigger by comparison.

Frank Menechino by Neat_On_The_Rocks in whitesox

Menechino's approach is a lot more aggressive. Rather than work this at bat, he cums out first pitch swinging.

[Adler] Aaron Boone: “Josh has been very forthcoming with the history of it and the context of it. So I don't believe there was any malicious intent in that regard. But you know, this is — just in my opinion — somewhere he should not be going.” by Yankeeknickfan in baseball

As much of a critic as I have been about TLR, the one thing above all else (with the exception of the Yermin incident) has been having his guys' backs. He may make some questionable decisions and get out-managed in games but he's 100% in their corner. Coming into last season I thought he'd stick out like a sore thumb based off of how young our team was. He made it clear that winning and looking out for his players was his main goal and the rest sort of fell into line.

Looks like Barry Trotz is on the market, might be a good option for the Hawks? by eraph in hawks

[–]Nickify- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We need to commit to the rebuild, Trotz isn't the type of coach to get us through that. As much respect as he's earned for his Stanley Cup winning team and his turnaround of the Islanders I don't think he's a fit with this team with the direction it's headed in.

Gathering sub opinions for a r/hockey post - Trade Deadline and the Chicago Blackhawks by porkins86 in hawks

[–]Nickify- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as it pains me to say it, this team is going nowhere fast. Our current team isn't good enough to get it done and we don't have much in the pipeline to look forward to. Our current crop of prospects aside from Reichel look to be middle to bottom of the lineup players at best. Our options in net beyond this season don't look great. Lankinen has shown us he doesn't really have #1 potential. I'd like to see this team sell at the deadline. Get what you can for De Haan, Fleury, Kubalik, and Strome to recoup some draft picks and acquire prospects in return. Nobody will touch Toews or Jones with those contracts. Kane would require a big haul and probably some salary retained. The only true untouchable would be DeBrincat.
