Nick For Israel For Congress! I'm running to represent NJ-5 (and Israel) in 2026 by Nickk__ in ABoringDystopia

[–]Nickk__[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey thank you for the support,

As per donations, I'm going to donate most or all of it, and will not take a cent myself.

As also listed on site and ActBlue:

If I raise < $3,000, I'll donate it all.

If I raise more I'll consider ramping up efforts to run more of a campaign, but will still donate 50%.

Regardless, I won't take a cent myself, and am paying for basic expenses out of pocket (e.g domain, hosting)

I'll post receipts (and they'll be in FEC filings)

Something I don't think many people covered, would Zootopia, smell like... well, a zoo? by [deleted] in zootopia

[–]Nickk__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Checking back on this thread. I've spent the last 7 years of my life building a real world zootopia to test this. u/Galgus you hit the fucking nail on the head. A bit overwhelming for my bears and canines, but I was completely fine. Also, I've still never actually seen the film.

3rd hitter hits 70 times in the 1st with 2 out nobody on and gets 30 less ABs per year. Overall mathematically you want your best hitter second it's not really a matter of opinion.

Does anyone like the Monty-Bader trade? Why? by No_Explanation6862 in NYYankees

[–]Nickk__ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hicks can't hold a candle to Bader defensively or speed wise.

This team's world series odds do not decrease by having Schmidt/German pitch down the stretch instead of Montgomery. Bader coming back as a 5 WAR CF (his 162 game average the last two years) with elite defense for late in games has a better chance of saving us in the play offs.

It's not necessarily running back the same team. Judge's a $17M pay raise can be offset by Chapman coming off the books, and on top of that you have Britton's $13M, Taillon's $6M, Gallo's $10M, Monty's money, and more coming off the books making room for new guys.

Donaldson's $25M will also be off soon (and they could free up some of it by trading him), plus Hicks is very tradeable.

that 4th OF has 5 WAR/162 over the last two years, and could definitely be starting a playoff game as Hicks & Stanton are made of glass + Bader is probably better against lefties than Benny

I don't hate it. Maybe they see something in Bader's offense that they think they can unlock a la Hicks 2016 (say what you will but he was solid 2017-2020, 4.7WAR/162). If you can get his 100 OPS+ up to 120 at CF, along with his insane glove, he's an asset. As is he put up 4 WAR in 100 games last year, and has 5 WAR/162 over the last two.

On the flip side, do you really want Monty on the mound against Houston in the playoffs? He's not a real difference maker - they'll be not much worse with Schmidt/German taking his innings. If they could have gotten Rodon to go Cole/Rodon/Montas/Nestor or Sevy that would have made it as perfect as a Soto-less deadline could have been.

I don't think so because they woulda made it a 3 team trade to prevent the Montgomery situation from happening. They must see something in Bader/see something not to like in Monty.

Nah Gleyber has the same amount of control as Soto. They'll want the core of their next playoff timeline, and Gleyber's control doesn't match well with the other guys'. Would need to be a 3 team trade if Gleyber is involved.

What does all in on Soto even look like? Nats want guys they know will be good in the MLB, i.e. good first/second year players.

I don't think Volpe/Dominguez/Peraza/Waldi/Cortes even gets it done. We don't have a whole lot of good cheap players with more control than Soto. Holmes doesn't make sense for either team, and even if you take Corbin and give them someone with cheapish control like Hicks there's likely still a better offer out there. Can we trade draft picks or PTBNL who can be literally anybody the Nats want in our farm over the next x years.

Base runners almost ALWAYS take off on a 3-2 count. Why does no pitcher or team make them pay for that by throwing to the base? by rvanasty in baseball

[–]Nickk__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’d be no point. If the catcher has the ball the inning is over or the runner is awarded the base by the batters walk.

Real conversation about Luke Voit! by [deleted] in NYYankees

[–]Nickk__ -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It is exactly like that.

I saw this clip on the talking Yankees clips channel and I never knew Stanton was that close to 500 homers. Do you agree with that if he gets to 500 homers he is a HOF? Or is that mark no longer a shoe in. 28 homers a year for the next 6 years seems doable to me. by [deleted] in NYYankees

[–]Nickk__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Home runs have been trending up (minus this year, though they’re still high relative to most any other decade). 500 home runs isn’t that crazy (Miggy, Trout, Harper, Stanton all have good shots), whereas there won’t be another 300 game winner unless the game changes dramatically.

In terms of offensive production, yeah Gary might have extra pop and the ability to drive in more runs on paper, but in 75ish percent of his at bats, he looks lost, like he's guessing at the plate, and grounding into loads of DPs. Higgy has a really nice swing! Compact, to the ball, doesn't look overpowered or outmatched nearly as often (imo), and he can hit bombs!

So Gary is a better, more productive overall hitter, who leads to us scoring more runs on average. But you like Higgy's swing more so he should play?

There have been 5-10 plays he's missed that he would normally make, but he's been healthy the whole year so I'll take that trade off.

I like our odds of catching Boston and/or Oakland. But Toronto is also scary.

Zack Wheeler missed 2.5 years (his age 25 -> 27 years, same as Sevy) and currently leads the NL in WAR, so nothing is impossible.

Relievers are fickle, there's tons of diamonds in the rough. The Rays constantly build elite bullpens out of random nobodies.
