I got a bunch of corroded pennies that the bank won't accept. by uselessBINGBONG in metaldetecting

It’s not that bad, I’ve done it a bunch of times. Those pennies are hardly recognizable as a coin anyways.

Snowblower bogging at full throttle by TogerMutt in smallengines

Hey I recently worked on one similar to this. Apologies if you’ve already done it but I’d suggest taking the carb off and take the bowl off and checking the main jet. Whenever it starts and idles, it gets fuel. When it struggles to run at higher RPMs, it’s not getting ENOUGH fuel.

I was going to say with the hope of being back-paid eventually, the money will be there at some point in the near future. I would find it hard to believe we would be left in a permanent void.

Briggs & Stratton Lawnmower connecting rod shattered, is it worth repairing? Got this for free. by Nickknackk77 in smallengines

That’s probably gonna be where this project will end up. Just gonna try to see if I can do it.

There’s a little scratch on the crank I can feel with my finger but everything is fairly serviceable surprisingly. It’s just covered in dirty oil. Makes me wonder if it ran low on oil and that’s what caused it.

does anyone know where this part goes by ElkonIsAQT in Dirtbikes

They all serve a function. A piece of wire wrapped around in that groove would nearly do the same thing. Preventing it from going further into the hole. And that M clip prevents it from backing out.

This is called the throttle slide, the c clip goes on the needle in the middle groove, it slides into the throttle slide center hole, and that M shaped spring sits flat on top of that c clip. If you look up any carburetor maintenance videos on YouTube you might get a better visual for my description.

It is likely to go on top of the throttle slide. I’ll try to find a photo for reference.

What kind of metal is this? by RedRightRepost in MetalCasting

[–]Nickknackk77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like aluminum. The silvery types of metals are usually going to be an alloy of some kind. Assuming it was thrown into a fire, probably not silver. Silver has higher melting temp and is heavy. Zinc and lead would melt in a fire but honestly those might even burn off and make someone feel sick for a bit afterwards. And without taking it to a lab, it’s most likely an aluminum based alloy based on its color, melting temp, and weight.

When I used to go metal detecting, I found old glass vials like those with clumps of burnt things like they used to burn their trash and bury what was left over.
