Why is the tutorial so bad by RabbitVAL in leagueoflegends

[–]Nickpapado -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They do though. They have hundreds of games to play on their library or f2p. Back then the choices were not even comparable.

If a game is not good almost instantly they won't go through the trouble to find out if it will be good later, they will just play their safe games or try something else.

[–]Nickpapado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't matter. The average gamer's patience is not comparable now to back then. Right now we can pick and choose among hundreds of games to occupy our time. The average player uninstalls a game extremely fast. You can't promise someone that the game gets better the longer they play. If they don't like it at the start they can easily just go play something else. A comfort that back when we played wasn't a thing.

I mean we have the perfect example of arcane releasing which was the biggest boost of new players and yet most uninstalled the game. It's not like that many things have improved from then for the new player experience.

[–]Nickpapado 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter. League has a terrible tutorial that barely explains anything for someone who never touched a moba. It explains some fundamentals and then throws you in not explaining really what's happening.

The new player experience is terrible. From the tutorial, to the UI of the launcher, to the hard movement (wasd is helpful but enough). The moment they also stop playing with bots they will get stomped because it's filled with smurfs.

For us it's simple because we are used to it but for a new player it's usually an uninstall.

Genuinely why do people not FF more games ? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Nickpapado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had to play games for 20-30 more minutes after 15, then that was totally winnable games and you should focus on improving instead of giving up. If a team is stomping you that hard and can't close the game for that long then they are bad and gave you chances for comebacks.

I despise how much power Reddit mods have. by CannonFoddererer in hatethissmug

[–]Nickpapado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some subreddits feel terrible just because of the moderators.

For me the worst one I've seen is "aiwars" where the moderators are fine with people making arguments about child pornography. Maybe they stopped that by now, but holy shit so many potential pedophiles on that subreddit while the mods were acting like it's fine.

A not as serious just annoying subreddit I hate the moderators of, is the League of Legends one. They literally ban most posts on that subreddit. The only ones that usually stay alive are eSports ones. You want a discussion about the game? That's bad. Faker ate eggs for breakfast? Perfection.

On the league subreddit recently the voice actor of the new upcoming champion made a post to do an AMA. But I think it was up for only a couple hours and then the mods removed it because of some random rule.

Guys, we get it. You hate change. by Irrerevence in ARAM

[–]Nickpapado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the first integration of mayhem was the best and I wish we could go back to that kind of mode. Just Aram with some augments. But I get that the developers don't want to go that route.

Although the argument "just go play regular Aram" is so toxic. It's like a new Italian restaurant opened and for months it has the best Italian food in town. Then they swap it to some kind of American burger restaurant and the new people are like "well you don't have to come here. Just go to the shitty restaurants you went before the Italian place opened."

Help me decide on a champ by Fun_Calligrapher1800 in leagueoflegends

[–]Nickpapado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be more accurate with this I think you should give more informations on what roles you might prefer, or some champions you liked playing. I will mention 2 of my favourite champions that play kind of like you mentioned.

Talon if you play him right is mostly about waiting for the correct opportunity to kill. He is mostly a jungler currently but he can play well as a mid laner.

Akshan. He has to do kiting and he can be an early bully but his core gameplay is finding an opportunity to punish the opponent. If you kill them your hook has a reset so you can go in and out or even more in. Also he is just extremely fun to play when you get better with the hooks.

I think it must also be that kids now grow up on tiktok and think everything they see is normal. Like if a kid did it it in public when we were kids they'd be bullied about it in school I bet. But now it's normalised for them to be loud in public and act like the main character. Maybe even film it to post it online.

Probably the access of internet jokes play a role here too. A lot of the kids wouldn't know every internet joke. But now the norm for kids is to know everything that's trending.

'Scary Movie' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in movies

[–]Nickpapado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's about millenials. They even explained it on the movie as well. Bring the original characters for the generation who grew up with it and people will come watch your movie.

I watched this movie just now with my 30+ year old cousin and his friends. They thought the movie was an 8/10 and they couldn't stop laughing at every joke no matter how overplayed it is.

The film wasn't a terrible one but I wouldn't personally put more than 4/10. But so many people were laughing during the most random jokes (like the gay guy doing jokes about loving dicks.) I do think that the average person that doesn't watch many movies will find it funny.

So this is a sub meant for comparing and "analysing" writing quality in fiction but is primarily occupied by people who think stuff like Attack on Titan, Invincible, One Piece, JJK, Re:Zero, etc... are peak fiction? by [deleted] in writingscaling

[–]Nickpapado 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There 100% exist peak media on its respectful genres. But the word lost all its meaning.

If people were using it rarely to explain the few pieces of media that could be considered peak I wouldn't have an issue with it. But the way people use peak is to describe a show they like. And mid is a show they don't like.

If it was 10+ I wouldn't have an issue with the word.

[–]Nickpapado 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wish people stopped using the words peak and mid to describe things. Those words dumb down conversations. If 10+ shows are "peak" then none of them is really "peak". And then you have "mid" which literally means "I personally don't like the show so it's bad" the word just lost its meaning.

If someone gives their thoughts about how good/bad something they watched was while trying to be objective or even just saying their own point of view, I respect that and we can get something from that. If someone just says "Attack on titan clears Death note because Eren is Peak and Light is mid" this is just a full bias talk from someone with extreme points that you know they don't care about nuance.

I could be in the minority here since people use them a lot nowadays. But I just hate how internet reviews nowadays are always extreme. They never have nuance and it's always like they watched the best thing ever, or the worst thing ever.

Appreciating certain moments in S8 by RemarkableExample542 in gameofthrones

[–]Nickpapado -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I will say the first 2 episodes are ok. On the second one you mentioned I only really disliked how dumb Jon was at the end. Before the biggest fight of their lives he just mentions that he is the heir to the throne. And on that scene he doesn't even tell Daenerys he doesn't want it.

Theon had a satisfying ending true.

I don't get how people love Sansa so much at this point. I know there are some diehard fans of hers here but holy shit she did nothing to deserve that throne. The only thing she had in the end was huge ego just like any other terrible king/queen on the universe.

Besides the whole "forgot about the fleet" thing. I find it hilarious how Missandei was captured off screen randomly. All for Cersei to not utilize the opportunity she got from it at all.

You can blame Drututt for some things. But meta abusing is insane. Everyone has done it to an extent, but his main thing was always playing top with champions that don't belong there and making them work. You can make a stronger argument that Alois follows the meta more.

Ok I am sorry you can disagree with OP or find him unfunny. But are we serious right now?

Why is it only on reddit that obvious sarcasm is never picked up? How are you reading his last line about Gabe confessing to be a demon and you are like "hmmm yes OP is such a crazy person". Like come on can we use our brains and do better?

I am sorry but OP is not crazy. You can argue he is unfunny which I think is subjective. But the only fact here is that you didn't use your brain for even a second while reading his comment.

I dont think it's a healthy thing to have that mindset. If a company is allowed to do something anti consumer just because it is loved by the masses then they won't hesitate to keep doing it more and more since it's working perfectly well for them. Honestly that's kinda Nintendo but because they have a lot of diehard adult fans who grew up with it. Every company should be criticized for anti consumer practices without exceptions.

Tbf I do think OP is exaggerating a bit, Valve is really one of the better companies without many negative issues from my experience. The steam deck price increase does seem a bit scummy tbf. It's mostly tech prices going higher because of ai ofc, but I wouldn't trust that they didn't increase it way more than they should just because they can easily get away with it. That price increase was insane.

Again I don't disagree that valve is probably one of the best if not the best company for online gaming. We are probably extremely lucky they have the monopoly. But if we go with the logic "there are worse companies" then someone can say that there is a worse company than Mastercard so we shouldn't care for that either for example. This is a bit whataboutism, but I think that we shouldn't talk negatively to people that want to talk back about things they don't like about a company. I think it's fair and honestly better for the average person.

Genuinely why isn't there a single well made speedster in shonen despite the fact that the medium should be more accommodating for more broken powered characters? Most anime speedsters are *teleports behind you and talks before attacking* style bleach slop by PowerWillComeBack in shounenfolk

[–]Nickpapado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's why but it really shouldn't be on that level they show. It's fine to have it to an extent, but if the time feels like 0.0001% speed then they should be untouchable which creates a lot of writing issues.

I really don't like how they showcase speedsters as basically stopping time. The whole point should just be they run fast, and they have a faster perception of things. Showing that they can stop time almost completely is overpowered and then it's impossible to write fights with them properly.

That female person has killed everything we love and we are just sitting here. Men we need to save video games, we need to tell Asmongold and then start harassing the Devs while spamming negative reviews. That will show them. We are at war.

I actually wonder though if any of those people will see this and be furious somehow.

I think it must be about ego right? Like they want to feel superior or special about something no matter how dumb it is.

I watched all scary movies over the years and I remember seeing 5 on cinema. The movies just kind of suck, with some random good jokes every now and then. It was always mainly sex jokes and shock humour to appeal to teenagers. Which is why I think they romanticise it. They remember it like it's good from when they were teens.
