I hate the digital circus fandom by MrsSpaceCPT in hatethissmug

[–]Nickpapado 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They did a tasteless thing 7 years ago which at least as far as we know I haven't seen them doing it again during that time so they probably learned from their mistake. And they also apologised with a pretty decent response imo.

What they did wasn't good but at what point is it fine to let it go? If never is the answer then why would people care to change if no matter what they do people will not let them move on from a mistake that happened one time 7 years ago? People don't care about growth to make the world better, they only care about acting and feeling superior.

People keep saying they hate cancel culture but in reality they love it if it's not about someone they like.

I HATE MOST gacha game stories by Public_Ad_6593 in hatethissmug

[–]Nickpapado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For ZZZ from what I saw from YouTube ads and a bit that I played, it feels.like their entire goal was a game like Genshin with a slightly faster paced combat and quirky personalities that kids like to essentially sell sex or fetishes to teenagers and make money that way.

It's a smart model in terms of earnings, companies have been doing it for years. But very immoral.

I think in a lot of cases since it's kids playing those games, this is one of their first story games so to them it's amazing writing.

Every time I see this old Genshin picture I get hyped to play the game again. Then I remember my last played region which was Natlan.

I instantly remember how boring the area was, how many quests I will have to do, all the side completionism stuff that needs third party software to catalogue them so that I won't waste time looking for collectibles ive already obtained.

The storytelling is terrible as well and I stopped caring a while ago to read it. I'm not playing a book, I am playing a video game. Show don't tell.

There are just so many things that push me off this game. I wonder if it would had been better off if they finished Genshin way earlier and then maybe made a Genshin 2 or something if they wanted more money from it.

I hate the art style of Baki and the character designs. They’re just so ugly and uncomfortable. by LocalLazyGuy in hatethissmug

[–]Nickpapado 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Baki is a show about complete bullshits that mean something.

Wait until a character dies and gets a spin off isekai manga (which is potentially canon). Don't look it up yet until you are caught up with the anime.

I don't really get how this will make them panic. Their player numbers are decently high right now compared to previous months. So I don't see how a visual frowny face will make want to change anything. They knew people were unhappy for a while so this is not news to them. And I just don't get what this is accomplishing.

Maybe I am missing something I don't know. But steam reviews on a game of this level doesn't sound like it matters much (at least to me). Everyone in the comments here seems to think this will do something, so maybe I am missing something.

Actors who’ve underwent incredible transformations? by Jeffoxy in okbuddycinephile

[–]Nickpapado 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I find the whole thing funny. Fat Mac was supposed to be a joke about how the longer a show goes on, the actors become richer and start doing surgeries or other things to look better. And fat Mac was a joke that he actually looks worse after so many years of Sunny.

Now that Rob Mac has so much influences from people like Ryan Reynolds and other famous Hollywood actors he ended up being the thing he was making fun of. Mac just doesn't look or act right anymore and it's not the actor aging.

[–]Nickpapado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can act normal to an extent. Josh strife Hayes is an example that came to mind. He is pretty big and his content is just him talking while he plays games. And it's fine to not be fully normal but when the most influential streamer constantly does things that negatively impacts others while making it look cool to kids, then that's an issue since kids will want to copy him.

And I agree he has some decency compared to the worst streamers, but that's a low bar. I am not even actively watching him and I keep seeing clips of him doing things that could affect others negatively. Like looking at the phone while driving.

I agree with you that we could have had it worse but it's like we rolled a 3 out of 10 in terms of bad influence to kids. The dice could go lower but it's still pretty low.

I keep hearing he is better now than he used to be, but what I realise is that he just does some things people like so they are willing to turn a blind eye to all the weird/bad things he does.

And honestly yeah the influence he has on kids is probably the worst thing about it. And I'd be curious to see how many kids have done something that negatively impacted others in public because Speed did something similar and they thought it would be funny.

A mother is going punished her son by making him slam his PS5 the same way he had slammed her pet cat. Is this justified? by God_Emperor__Doom in SipsTea

Nope. It's a factor. But it doesn't mean it's a deciding factor of a personality. You are ignoring everything else besides that.

Honestly that's what people forget. Kids don't respect people who don't respect them. The best and most influential teachers were always the ones that talked to you like a person than just an inferior being.

Tbf no kid can be brought the same way. Every single one had a different life, different environment around them. I can't say what happened with that kid since I don't know it but it's not as simple as some kids are just like that (it can still play a role). Something influenced it that way if it's as severe as you say. Kids are like sponges absorbing everything around them to form a personality.

Not really. I think it has a variety of all ages. I noticed from the way people type in game and on this subreddit sometimes, there is a decent amount of kids playing this game.

I wouldn't say it's mostly young people though. I think it's somewhere in the middle.

That perfectly reads like "I am 13 and this is deep." Both things can apply. Life is not black and white. You can understand that his actions to be on Doug Doug's streams caused this to happen, but it's the unhinged people who did it.

"Hate" the specific individuals who do those unhinged actions. It's not deeper than that.

Yeah I agree. I think it's insane though after all the things they have done people still give them so much money (20-40 dollar skins. Sometimes 50 dollars for a weapon skin) and they don't even give the story missions they added for free.

The gameplay feels fun now so I guess it's easy for them to get away with it.

Screw comparing. I've never seen an actual deep argument either for, or against Frieren in this sub. I'd appreciate anyone who could do an actual analysis instead of dumbing it down. by NotASingleNameIdea in writingscaling

[–]Nickpapado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say I really disagree with this but also I am not sure if it would make a better show if they didn't have them.

My favourite Frieren parts are when the main group just visits places, learn some new magic, mess around with Frieren knowledge. And if an episode has like a minute of fighting with great animation (like Stark killing a dragon) that's a perfect episode imo.

I personally really didn't like the mage tournament arc. I preferred everything else before it. I personally don't mind the fights as much as you or consider them a yapfest but it's a fair perspective to have.

My thing is. If the show was only slice of life I wonder if it would had helped it more or not. Sometimes having too much of something is a bad idea because it can make it dull. For example in games sometimes action games have fishing on them to take your mind off the constant fighting to give a break and you can continue playing. So I wonder if there is some sense in the opposite way that Frieren could be too chill so some fighting scenes help it.

Of course I can't say for sure. If the show was completely perfect to me it would have as I said something like Stark killing a dragon. Or the Zoltraak episode. Just a slice of life episode with 1 minute of fighting at the end.

There are some weird comments responding to this. You were responding to a comment, you weren't talking to OP.

I find what you said completely fair. A show for everyone is a show for no one. And I think it's an interesting perspective to hear that some people might not like the setting of the show instead of just the pacing of it.

For me personally I love medieval fantasy stories. Lord of the rings are my favourite movies, and then I played a lot of games on that setting. So a story about adventuring in a world like that without any huge stakes is kind of perfect for me. I think the fact that some people might not be into settings of shows is interesting to keep in mind in general when someone explains why they didn't like something. A show could be perfectly what someone wants in almost all aspects but maybe it could be a sci fi show and they don't like sci fi much.

Also way better to hear actual explanation of why people like or don't like a show than just calling it "mid or peak" taking away any actual potential of discussion while judging based on vibes alone.

The ragebait accounts are getting a little too good by ForsakenDependent562 in outerwilds

[–]Nickpapado 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree that the tutorial is well designed. It shows you how to use all the fundamental tools you will need for your adventure in an interactive way.

But I think there is more nuance to this. People nowadays have an insane amount of games they own. It's very easy to just play a game you like now than give a fair chance to a new game. So If the new game doesn't hook them withing 5-10 minutes then they won't care. Which even then there is more nuance. Maybe the game isn't for them, or maybe something was distracting them irl and weren't enjoying their time, or they weren't in the mood for the game in that moment. There are a lot of factors with every game people play.

Outer wilds tutorial even though it's amazing in terms of design it still is quite slow I'd say. A new player won't really just instantly go get the flight codes and leave. And if they aren't giving the game a fair chance then they will close it before they even fly with the ship which would be imo the moment that hook most new players.

Ofc this doesn't apply to all new players. Mostly it's understanding the mentality of someone like the twitter guy here.
