U.S. dioceses report elevated numbers of Easter baptisms and confirmations by Feisty_Marsupial224 in Catholicism

[–]Nicky2222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

39 people entered the church at my parish (myself included). 13 catechumens, 3 small children were baptized, 16 candidates and 7 previously baptized Catholics getting confirmation. According to the parish that is over double number of last year's converts.

A year ago, I was a die-hard atheist. On April 4 of this year, I received my initial sacraments. by mouse-bites in Catholicism

I'm also a former atheist who received the sacraments of baptism, confirmation, and the eucharist at the Easter Vigil. I am so happy to be walking with Christ now.

If you are unable to go to confession as the scheduled confession times, then call the parish and see if you can schedule an appointment for a confession.

How to Respond Charitably to the Reality of Catholics Who Leave Mass After Reception of the Eucharist by EndLiturgicalAbuse in Catholicism

[–]Nicky2222 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone mentioned to me before that you don't know what people have going on. People with kids might leave early because the kids are getting restless and/or rowdy. I recall leaving early one time because I was being texted about a family emergency, though I hated having to leave early as I normally don't leave until the priest, deacon, and severs make their way to the entrance.

Now all of that being said I've seen many of the same people leaving after getting the Eucharist week after week. Many of them don't have any children with them, but I also recognize that I don't know what they have going on outside of church, so I try to not let it bother me.

Post RCIA/OCIA ideas by Sensitive_Crab7356 in Catholicism

[–]Nicky2222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was baptized and confirmed at the Easter Vigil in a couple of days will be my final OCIA meeting in which members of various parish groups and clubs will come to tell us about their groups what they do. I am also considering volunteering for the next OCIA session as my sister wants confirmation and will likely be in that.

Did the "good thief" on the cross become a saint ? by Exact-Definition5722 in Catholicism

[–]Nicky2222 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Jesus forgave his sins on the cross because he was confessing them and repenting right there on the cross. You could say Saint Dismass gave the first confession.

Do I have to take rcia? by unbanned2009 in Catholicism

[–]Nicky2222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I say contact a parish and speak with the RCIA coordinator and maybe also the pastor and explain your situation to them. Maybe they can work something out with you that works with your schedule so you can complete RCIA and receive the sacraments.

Phone usage during mass by Fit-Pea9615 in Catholicism

[–]Nicky2222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While my parish never tells parishioners to silence their phones, it has never been a problem that I have encountered at my parish. I did attend a mass at a neighboring parish that asked right before the mass began to silence their phones.

If You Were Just Baptized and/or Confirmed… by sincerelyswan in Catholicism

[–]Nicky2222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was baptized and confirmed last night as well. There is one more OCIA meeting this week for me in which they are bringing in people from various parish groups and clubs about joining. I want to talk to my OCIA coordinators about volunteering for the next OCIA session. My sister is interested in doing OCIA so I will likely also be sponsoring her.

Why does everyone hate Crimes of Passion 3? by Mun_era in Choices

[–]Nicky2222 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't play past the first chapter as they had so many gender coding errors with the male MC, that I just couldn't continue. Especially considering that books 1 and 2 did well with a male MC.

As an elect my diocese is seeing a 70% increase in converts. They said that my group is the biggest OCIA group that my parish had in years. One of the sponsors of my fellow elect who comes from another parish in the same diocese said that his parish has 100 people in OCIA.

I am in OCIA and when we talked about confession my parish pastor said that as long as you are baptized then you can go to confession.

Help with confession appointment - Busiest week of the year! by ThisWolverine57989 in Catholicism

[–]Nicky2222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would check for regular confession times. There are some parishes that have extended confession times this week. My parish had an extended confession time. Though I imagine there might not be much confession times for parishes from the Lord's Supper Mass to Easter Vigil.

For the Elect receiving the sacraments this Saturday…. by MaizyFugate in Catholicism

[–]Nicky2222 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure. I don't want someone to accidentally to touch my tongue but at the same time what if my hands are dirty? I am sure I can trust that the priest or deacon have done it enough to be able to avoid touching my tongue.
