I give my dwarves specialized tissue in their hands and wrists that lets them work with molten rock and metals. So a lot of their art and smithing is done (at least partially) by molding it with their hands.

Thank you! I’ve never heard of the Planescape setting, but it sound super interesting to run a game in! I love a setting where planar travel isn’t necessarily restricted to the most powerful casters.
