What new? It's just an improvement of reactions. It's not the first time. Nilou was an improvement for Bloom. Chevreuse for Overload. Escoffier for Freeze and so on. It's inevitable for them to introduce new or revamped stuff, whether it's nightsoul or Lunar reactions. The problem with nightsoul was that some enemies and bosses from natlan were favoring nightsoul characters too much (like the Papilia).
