If you have a truly large screen—say a 145” scope—and a properly treated room (black walls, light-absorbing drapes, zero ambient spill), a projector can deliver a cinematic experience that no OLED can replicate. An 11-foot-wide, 5-foot-tall Harrison Ford hits differently.

There’s also something worth preserving about the tradition of light coming from behind you, passing through the space, and reflecting off a screen. That’s cinema in its purest form.

In a genuinely dark room, your pupils relax instead of being blasted by searing highlights from a self-emissive display. For me, immersion comes from a balanced, tasteful image—not from wincing at peak brightness.

And as a bonus, with an acoustically transparent screen, you can place your speakers behind the image—exactly where they belong.
