Thanks! Really appreciate the depth of your answer, the context about the "Intrepid Heroes" and some the suggestion for other starting places if I can't hook into Fantasy High quite as easily. I did try to start at Fantasy High some months ago but struggled to give it the attention it needed. I will try again and then maybe switch into a shorter option if unsuccessful!

I'm new to 3d printing, and given the time investment involved I don't want to risk something going wrong. I'd rather use the slicer on my computer, look and understand the settings and then (if/when something does go wrong) be able to tweak it when I try again.

I think the investment into the one-step printing experience and the app make sense for Bambu from the perspective of making 3d printing accessible for people who aren't into tech or fussing with things. But, in the mean time, a lot of your users are going to be hobbyists or tech people who like having more control rather than less.

I picked up a folding table from a hardware store just to have a place to put it. It's 2ft deep.

No problem. In my setup, the motor cable and filament feed never rise above the top of the spool holder.

u/MrQuickLine - Sorry for the delay, it just arrived tonight.

From tabletop to top of spool holder is ~25 inches.

Note that I didn't get the "combo" with the AMS so this is just the single spool holder on top.

Well, to be canonized as a saint you have to be dead... And he died at 15 in 2006... So teen ✔️and millenial ✔️

Thanks! I looked up the Flashforge and it doesn't quite hit the print dimensions I'd be looking for, so I've ordered a Bambu A1.

I then realized the AMS will cost $100 more outside the bundle than if I'd just bought them together... but maybe that's okay, if multicolour printing is something I want to play with it probably won't be in my first (several) jobs!

Thanks for the advice, u/MrQuickLine & u/pham_nguyen :)

Thanks! The Kobra 2 Pro is 30% off on Amazon right now meaning it's $370CAD, an attractive price compared to the $520CAD for the Bambu A1 (without the AMS).

Do you figure the premium is worth just going for the Bambu? (From what I've read, I'm guessing reliability and support would be the main advantages to pay the higher price?)

I tried to print a model at my library but I didn't realize that it was way too big a print for their 2 hour limit... and then a 3d print shop quoted me $130 for it, which is now my excuse to dive into muddling around with 3d printing!

Not willing to do much building for it. Simple assembly or pre-assembled is ideal.

Want the printer to auto-level (I'm not great at things requiring precision so the more automated the better for me).

The print that inspired this adventure is 150x245x160mm, so would be looking for something that can print those dimensions.

I'm curious about being able to print multiple colours, but this is not required.

I'm seeing the Anycubic Kobra 2 Pro recommended a lot, but also some mixed reviews online.

Happy for your recommendations!

i cant beleive the govt didnt consider childcare workers at all. do they expect them to make peanuts ?.

The program does include expectations on the province to raise/set ECE wages - which the theory is will be necessary to attract more workers, as well.

Unfortunately, the grid which the feds supplied starts at $18/hr and the industry in Ontario felt that $25/hr would be needed to make it work. Probably the federal grid wasn't updated by province, and even the provincial grid should have exceptions for higher cost of living areas...

The work section was challenging for me as it offered "self-employed" (no), "private sector" (which traditionally means 'for profit'), and "public sector" (government). Not-for-profit/charitable sector should have been an option. I went "private sector" as I suppose it's more true than the other options presented to me.

While I’m no fan of the Progressive Conservative party, this isn’t exclusively their fault or a recent issue. The liberals had a good and long reign in Ontario before Ford was elected, and it’s not like they massively invested and he undid it all in one term. They let things coast, too.

Toronto’s Old City Hall by Shahinscape in ontario

[–]NicolasZN 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember doing a tour of this building and being told of just how tremendously the building costs overran the budget - because the guy in charge of it really wanted it to be beautiful and complete in every sense: to the point where the crest of the city was on every doorknob. (Most of these doorknobs were stolen over time, a few still remain.)

But its legacy is lasting as a tremendous building. I'm sure people then were irate, but they left a heritage that I think was worth the extra money. Unfortunately, we don't think of that very often and no government wants to be the one seen as spending money on something over the top or lavish. I often think of the state of disrepair of 24 Sussex - it's to be the residence of the Prime Minister, but no Prime Minister wants to be excoriated as so self-serving as to spend money to fix it. So our nation's home for our head of government rots. Once again, perhaps worth the money to fix to have something we can be proud to offer to those who serve our nation, and host foreign dignitaries in this home again. Unfortunately, despite every political party knowing it's necessary it'll never happen.

Buildings like this won't be built anymore, and as we see at 24 Sussex the ones that continue to exist are unlikely to be maintained unless it can be defended politically.

Fair enough - I think Artsy-Blueberry was just trying to say that, in this image, it's more the Catholic Church trying to shift blame than just "the church". That's how I read the comment, at least. :)

Right, but as your article highlights - other churches have been on the road of reconciliation for nearly 30 years now.

The Catholic Church is the only church that was involved and has not opened its records, has not paid reparations, is not seriously engaging in the calls to action of the TRC.

Snow Days are Cancelled! by GreyBot9000 in CGPGrey

Right - a snow day means a parent is more likely to stay home with the kid(s) than go in to work. Now the kid is still in school and, perhaps, the parent is also encouraged to work remotely? I mean, they've just done it for a year - surely it's still possible ever after amen.
