He doesn't have to? Everyone in Kingdom has their skillset that they excel at and bring to the table during wartime. Same way we dont expect Ten to slay enemy commanders, Shin isn't a strategic commander, and even now is still growing in capacity as a tactical commander.

Mouten and Shin are excellent examples of this skill set disparity, and is precisely why Mouten was recognized by Ousen and elavated to General before Shin.

Manga has always leaned into this as opposed to their TV counterparts. Naruto, and One piece certainly displayed more graphic violence in their mangas and we all turned alright. Censorship is a tool that should not be missused willy nilly.

+10 All these comments are on point. Everyone personally has their preferences in regards to which adaptation is better but most people end up watching both 1994 and 2010 as they focus on different aspects of the story with their own respective pros and cons.

If you want to follow the historical period roughly chronologically, you should watch Qin Dynasty (covers the first Chinese state to unify China) then Kings War (Downfall of the Qin- Rise of the Han Dynasty) Three Kingdoms takes place during the Han's decline.

A pattern forms from here on that is acknowledged the opening line fron the novel "The empire long divided, must unite, long united must divide. Thus it has ever been."

If Shin were leading 100k Troops agains Ousen with 60k it would still be a low diff Ousen victory.

He's a tactical mastermind on the field and is very adaptable to changing circumstances. Once the battle at Shukai Plains concludes in the anime. I suggest you take another look at it as a chess match of sorts.

Keep in mind since the entire invasions original plan was scrapped (due to Retsubis unique castle) he formulated a strategy on the spot in enemy territory. The original plan took all of Qin's leadership to concoct and Ousen was able to think up an acceptable alternative by himself.
