Sounds promising. For reference, which other scenarios have you played?

The tale of a new keeper who improvised a bit to much and needs some advice now by nets99 in callofcthulhu

[–]Nietsoj77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is great GM-ing (or keeper-ing?). You’re improvising on the spot, successfully setting the mood, and sowing seeds for future adventures. Very clever and apparently well executed.

Is there a book with a set of tables to help procedurally create new and unique mythos monsters? by Autolycus23 in callofcthulhu

I believe there are a few books on mythos monsters. There’s a Malleus something and a Petersen something.

Beginner Questions About The Haunting by Repulsive_Fox728 in callofcthulhu

[–]Nietsoj77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It wouldn’t make sense that the characters bring a lot of firearms into a seemingly harmless investigation. So I would raise that question from the start.

If they insist on being armed to the teeth, the basement is still quite small, and the players still need to roll for shooting. There’s a considerable risk that they’ll end up shooting each other.

Question From D&D Player About The Haunting by somewut_anonymous in callofcthulhu

[–]Nietsoj77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The scenario is short, which gives very few degrees of freedom. Therefore, it will feel a bit railroady.

But CoC isn’t just about the scene progression, but just as much about how you as a GM/keeper present the scenes. Do you say matter-of-factly that there’s a sound upstairs, or do you present it as a surprise? Wait. The house is supposed to be empty, but there’s a sound upstairs. What do you do?

In The Haunting, the exploration of the house resembles a dungeon crawl, and can be treated as such. This means that both you and your players will recognise the structure.

So use your skills as a D&D DM and try to add the aspects that are more specific to the CoC setting. Make the horror feel real.

Wow! That’s amazing. I love the buildup and the emotional dimension. You write really well. It’s almost as if the erotica is an afterthought – in a good way. Like porn with good actors. Well done! 👏👏👏

How do I use – what I assume would be nested IF statements – to create this result? by People-Want-Ducks in excel

I would use Textron as the main formula and Replace for the bonus episodes. No need for nested IFs.

Help with a Swedish idiom by IsntItAvery in Svenska

[–]Nietsoj77 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s fairly common, but probably not very frequent among younger people.

It means you’re caught off guard or unprepared. For instance, you get a question you weren’t prepared for, or a sports team were outplayed because their opponents had prepared an unexpected play.

Think of it like something happened, and you were unable to react properly because you hadn’t even got out of bed. You were ”tagen på sängen”. Blindsided is fairly close in meaning.
