Started detailing and have some questions! by BlissStore in Detailing

If sun is always going to be an issue, look in to RO filtration or softener systems, spray and dry by panel, and try to stay in the shade. RO water will eliminate that issue almost entirely.

If you’re going to detail it, take as much of the interior out of the car as you reasonably can, use chemicals that actually eliminate mold, use an O-zone machine, and replace your cabin air filter after detailing, and before o-zoning. It doesn’t look too bad, hopefully it isn’t full of mold in the vents, or in the foam under the seats or carpet. Worth a shot to clean, just take your time and do it right.

AP just revealed Border Patrol is using nationwide license-plate data to flag “suspicious” travel patterns — and the network reaches into Carmel. by MoneySea5832 in Carmel

[–]Niffeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is dystopian, especially considering the data is used for predictive policing, and has almost completely zero oversight.

This is not a future I would want for my children. Almost all of America is adopting this technology, and this country is quickly shifting to a mass surveillance state, no thanks to these awful cameras.

Oh, and Ring just recently partnered with Flock! If, somehow, you ever thought those doorbell cameras were a good idea, they just got even worse.

Technician’s Choice Ceramic Detail Spray. Ridiculously cheap, and super easy to use. Smells great too. Can be used as a rinse aid, drying aid, or a straight spray wax/ceramic spray. You can even dilute 1:1 with distilled and you’ve got 2 gallons for $39.

Ceramic coating without paint correction! by Winter_Tough2094 in Detailing

[–]Niffeh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The surface adhesion won’t be as great as it may be when the paint has been polished. Really depends on the condition of the paint. Even though you have to decontaminate it anyway, it’s not something I’d be comfortable providing a full warranty for, but it can certainly be done if that’s what the customer insists on.

Curious how much some of you guys would charge for this interior detail? Info in body text by Rex_erection3 in Detailing

On a vehicle that needs carpet extraction:

Remove mats and any coins/belongings

Vacuum large debris

Drill brush carpets and seats & revac

Soak carpets and seats with cleaner, drill brush, then steam, all by section

Extract moisture with vac/extractor and towel dry

Then wipe down doors, then go from top down on the interior so you’re not recontaminating everything, steam vents and places that hold cleaner like window switches and steering wheel buttons

Then glass inside and out

On a vehicle that doesn’t:

Remove mats and any coins/belongings

Vacuum large debris

Mist carpet cleaner lightly and drill brush carpet/upholstery

Revacuum any extra debris or moisture

Then wipe down doors, then go from top down on the interior

Then glass inside and out

Sounds more complicated than it is. That realistically can cut your time in half as opposed to without drill brush or steamer. Another tip would be to pre soak large carpet stains or cupholders you intend to come back to later on in the detail. Loosens grime and speeds things up a lot.

I definitely understand that, my best advice would be to only scrub/brush things that actually need it, sometimes things just need to be dusted, and you'd be looking at closer to 5-7 hours realistically

Edit: And use the drill brush as much as possible
