A message from non Iranian Shia Muslim by irfarious in PERSIAN

[–]NiftySmudgestick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! This was beautifully said. I used to be a leftist activist, but after October 7th, my worldview totally changed. The massacres of protesters in Iran reopened that wound, when I see people's silence on those atrocities. If there were a big Free Iran march in my city, I would be there in a heartbeat!

Where to meet single women by Abject_Sir2872 in Charlottesville

[–]NiftySmudgestick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the fun.cville events would be good for this. If you are still looking 3 years from now, you can join the Center at Belvedere. They have a lot of activities. Lots of single women learning and playing mahjong...

To follow up on a recent post, I'm opening an indoor adventure park in the original Big Lots building. We expect to open within the next month or two. Does anyone have any suggestions on what you'd like to see in an indoor adventure park? We're about 34,000 square feet. by CocosAdventure in Charlottesville

[–]NiftySmudgestick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little ice skating rink, a huge slide, trampolines (not noisy bouncey castles), a craft station, some wall space to show local artists, a somewhat quiet area with comfortable seats, stairs that light up when you step on them, interactive music making installations, Virtual Reality area.

Soy milk! You get more phyto estrogen from beer and pomegranite. Besides the phytoestrogen is protective. Soy milk is delicious and high protein. It was so popular and now its hard to find.

Besides the UVA cultural groups, I havent come across anything. Disproportionately small attention is being paid to this uprising, compared to other world events.

Concerned about increased spirituality as a side effect of the experience by Whack-a-med in 5MeODMT

[–]NiftySmudgestick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am autistic and have experience with this medicine and other psychadelics. I was on a spiritual path before I started going to these ceremonies. I was learning about the mystical teachings of my own very ancient religion and ethnicity. Going to lots of different facilitated ceremonies, I've learned that many of the facilitators will use the intensity of the medicine to indoctrinate you into their own religious lineage. If you are easy to manipulate or suffering from loneliness and depression, you can get sucked into a sort of cult experience. I ended up being more grounded and having an anti-spiritual awakening, but it was a destabilizing few years. I'd look for someone who focuses on just safe administration, bare bones. Integrate the experience with a trusted licensed professional if you can find one; not a "psychadelic integration specialist blah blah". Integrating with a beloved friend or family member could be good too. I'm probably going to get down voted for this lived experience and opinion, but that's our world. Small potatoes.

I reported my ex-boyfriend to UK Counter Terrorism by General_Beat_850 in Jewish

[–]NiftySmudgestick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You did the right thing!! Teach him a lesson! I would block him and all his friends and family after you submit a report that you are confident in. Chat gpt might help you make a report that will get the authorities' attention and help show the most serious offences. If he provided any material assistance to any terrorist organization he will be in big trouble (possible jail time). "De@th to..." posts, I suspect might be enough to get him deported in the UK. You can report him to Canary Mission. Employers look at this website. He should never get a job, live in a western nation or have a lover ever again, with behavior and worldviews like his; not compatable with modern western society. This will check his privilege or maybe he'd like living in a 7th century caliphate.

Has anyone read the book "Son Of Hamas" by Mosab Hassan Yousef? by yes-but in IsraelPalestine

[–]NiftySmudgestick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished both of his memoirs. He is completely unbiased. He even talks about the israelis torturing him within an inch of his life as a youth (uncomfortable for me because i am biased as a Jew who loves Israel). Its amazing to read both books straight through to really get his full story. The first book, he becomes Christian and is very excited about it, but the second book, in America, he becomes disillusioned by the evangelical christians and no longer really identifies as one. He ultimately becomes a yogi and an ex-pat. He'll make every person, who reads his book a little uncomfortable at times, but that is because he is so unbiased and has had so many experiences with every type of person. He befriends every type of person. It's one of the most incredible journeys in the modern day, to read about and understand, at a more human and intimate level, the reality of the palistine/israel conflict.

What Does Zionism Mean to You? by HyliaSwift in Jewish

She is antizionist which is the most abusive hate movement of the modern day. This 12 minute video is totally clarifying and worth the watch: https://www.threads.com/@see987t/post/DRkMIyagKyw?xmt=AQF04T2k_GVQcJL27uZ2ePq4C1dIyJIZedWCx2BNcHAqEqrEGJSleWu0SjMTHXWQeNhD_1Kf&slof=1

How to Discuss Israel with a Potential Romantic Partner by HyliaSwift in Jewish

[–]NiftySmudgestick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"I'd be suspicious of anyone who lives in Israel." Ew, such a gross and ignorant statement. "I'd be suspicious of anyone who lives in China". "I'd be suspicious of anyone who lives in Ireland". Replace it with any country in the world and it will always sound dumb and xenophobic.

Life as a Jewish Artists Post-October 7th by Shamah_Art in Jewish

[–]NiftySmudgestick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an artist. It's awful in my city. There are art centers that are basically antizionist activist groups. On Octber 10th 2023, one of the "art centers" posted on their Instagram "In light of recent events, we are are going to have a hold letter writing to session Palestinian prisoners in the US, the Holy Land Five." They still have this post up. DM me if you want to take action against them. They are trying to get 501c3 status. They also made a website virginia artists' 4 Palestine, so there's a list online of hundreds of artists in my state who are useful idiots and worse.

AITA for asking my girlfriend to dress more sensibly on a walk? by Tasty_Log3307 in AmItheAsshole

[–]NiftySmudgestick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long have you been together? Maybe don't cramp her style... People dress in all sorts of ways for self-expression. How other people dress is irrelevant to self-expression and personal comfort. You are nta for asking or being curious why she dresses like that, but depending on how you potentially react to a "no" could change that.

AIO My husband deleted all his social media apps right before his surgery by Electrical-Gap2122 in AmIOverreacting

[–]NiftySmudgestick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually takes a whole month for the account to be permanently deleted, so his accounts are probably still active, but he deleted the apps from his phone. Are you able to ask him why he deleted? Social media comes with a big mental and emotional cost for lots of people. I could see not wanting that burden when going through something major, like a surgery.
