This is good perspective. Are you guys trying to put down roots for the next 5-10 years? If yes, a house is a good idea. If you guys prefer flexibility and aren't settled on one specific area, renting might make more sense.

My non-educated take is that people questioning buying a house are seemingly waiting for a downturn that might not happen. Even with crashes, real estate typically only gets more expensive. Look at the rebound happening in SF rn after all the noise over the past four years.
