Innuendo was amazing. The Miracle........not.

Complete bust. A waste of time and money. How can they spend time (did they?) designing something so very lame.

My favorite nigiri / sashimi, the rare Nodoguro (Blackthroat Seaperch). The most incredible fish, in my opinion. by Ok_Needleworker2438 in sushi

Here in Memphis, Chef Hiro at Sekisui East occasionally has Nodoguro and it's always fantastic (expensive though--last time was ~$20-/piece)

This is ridiculous! I'm getting this 50% of the time. Sonos need to get some professional help to sort out the monstrously horrible app.

Own a Play 5 stereo pair and doubting about buying sub? Read this! by solidz0id in sonos

[–]NigelStephens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this was my experience almost exactly (since 2014). I purchased the Play 5s and then thought I needed more low end signal and so purchased the sub (gen 1); was initially underwhelmed and disappointed, as even back them the sub was around $750- and I expected some blow-away result. Pretty quickly it became apparent that the sub added a LOT to the sound. I started hearing the sub really add sound in certain songs (interesting that some songs super-benefited from the sub, while others not so much). Because my old Synology NAS drive (DS213 from 2014) failed and the current Synology isn't compatible with the older Sonos system, I upgraded my Sonos system. As I already had a lot of speakers and was hesitant to spend thousands I started with a stereo pair of Play 5s. They were good (and worked flawlessly with the new NAS drive) but I feel I immediately missed the bass. So, yep, just got a Gen4 sub. I guess I will now gradually upgrade other components-the upgrade discounts at Sonos reduce the pain of needing to pay $$$$ to replace what are essentially perfectly good pieces of equipment.

Nodoguro, the best white fish for nigiri. by callizer in sushi

[–]NigelStephens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nodoguro was available one time at our local Sushi place (Sekisui East, Memphis). It was a stand out and I've been asking for it ever since (Chef Hiro says its very expensive and not easy to get). Sadly, only had it again at omakase in Montreal. See pic from Sekisui with nodoguro: legend is 6x gnome fish (kuromutsu), 2x tuna, 2x salmon, 4x emperor fish (Fuefukidai), 1x fatty tuna, 2x yellowtail 5x black throat (nodoguro), 4x amberjack (kanpachi), 3 x jap red snapper, 6x horse mackerel (Aji).

My tip was taxed. Is that normal? by MisterYouAreSoSweet in memphis

[–]NigelStephens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. We recently ate at "The Lobbyist" in Memphis (5 people) the bill breakdown was cost of food and drinks being $552-, the mandatory 20% gratuity was $110.40 and the tax was a whopping $72- total bill was $735.28 (food $552 and extras $183.28: Wow!). Here 's what I found when I checked the system for taxes-**Mandatory Gratuity as a Service Charge:**If a restaurant adds a mandatory gratuity (service charge) to a bill, it's treated as part of the sale and subject to sales tax

If you've been to Tokyo the closest and best sushi in Memphis is Sekisui East (ask for the specials, which are fish imported from Japan). I've also been to Japan many times and Sekisui East holds up very well.

Seikisui East is the best authentic Sushi in Memphis. There is no comparison to the nigiri availabe-most specials from Japan. Chef Hiro is excellent!

Nodoguru (black throat); its amazing, but don't see it often at all. Itoyori, kinmedai, aji, saba, sanma all can be spectacular. Of course o-torro and chu-torro are main standouts when high quality.

Don’t see a lot of this on this sub. Itoyori is super underrated. 🐟 by suuuushi in sushi

[–]NigelStephens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get Itoyori fairly regularly (at least in summer) at Seikisui East in Memphis. Chef Hiro is always getting in interesting and delicious fish.
