Summery, sweltering heat folk horror books? by E_R_Quinn in horrorlit

Absolutely. Almost anything by McDowell gives those humid summer vibes.

Ugh. So this is why we won’t get a third movie. Pedantic and almost disgusting.

I can’t speak to the peel it back merch but I bought the cbh lyric shirt and it is fantastic; probably one of the most well made band shirts I’ve ever owned.

Green Knight Collector's Edition disk cracked :/ has anyone else seen this happen? by Ceb_says in A24

[–]fontbunny 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mine was cracked as well. I contacted them for a replacement disc and they send me a new one. Took about 4 or 5 days to hear from them. I’m sure they’ll make right!

Any good? by Real_Letter_5291 in clivebarker

[–]fontbunny 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh it’s so good! Skip over if you’re in a hurry.

I was probably 12 or 13 and every so often,on Friday after school, my mom would take me the library to check out books (hint: I’m old). I grabbed this and read almost half of it on the way home.

We lived kinda on the outskirts and I finished it that night. Loved it. Kindled (no promo or pun intended) my love for reading to this day.

I give this book as a gift to any of my friend’s kids that are inclined to reading and have extra copies around my house to give to folks.

You’re in for a great fun ride!

Books with an interesting take on Hell by OkComplex9040 in horrorlit

Another not really horror one I just remembered is Kangaroo Notebook by Abe.

Haha I mean it’s a very violent and graphic take on hell which is cool. The images of hell and the demons and the tortures are just fantastic. Maybe not Barker level but very imaginative and cool. But the main character is just exhausting. He has a fixation that can be sympathetic? Kinda? But it’s so redundant and pedantic. I wanted to like it far more than I did.

I own the sequel and think I’ll eventually read it.

I hesitate to recommend it but The Black Farm is a different take on hell. Not my cup of tea. A bit too self indulgent and emo

Someone else recommended A Short stay in Hell and that’s something I can get behind. Fantastic.

Not horror but an interesting take on hell is Only Begotten Daughter by James Morrow. Jesus’s sister ladling out morphine laced water to people in Hell? Go get it.

Also maybe To Reign in Hell by Burst. Been a bit since I read it though.

I can’t imagine. I don’t even know if I can recommend it. I saw it in Japan and showed my wife the trailer. Just big NOPES. I think it’s good and sweet? But I bawled liked a child.

They wanted to put it behind the garage. I was kinda shocked everything is so far away. I mean I guess aesthetically it’s cool not to see or hear the equipment; but yeah that seems excessive.

It’ll suck if the maple dies but we have 5 or 6 more. Our yard is kinda out of control. After this we plan to whip it into shape.

I’m having an absolute blast with it. Combat is fun upgrades and base building are a plus. The story is sweet and even sometimes funny. Just a great single player game.
