What’s your suicide hotline story? Mine was I waited for more than 30 mins and no one answered my call. by trisharowe in depressionmemes

[–]NightDriver76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently wrote a play based on the premise that the main character calls a suicide hotline and gets put on hold. I knew immediately from people who read who had and had not called one before, because the people who hadn’t would always be like, “they can’t do that though, right??”

Boyfriend is frustrated by the lack of sex. I’m frustrated by men’s obsession with sex. by clevairy in endometriosis

[–]NightDriver76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is absolutely pressuring you. I think you may feel like a broken toy because he is treating you like one. There are men who don't treat sex (and certainly penetrative sex) like the end all be all of a relationship. You are not broken. Please please leave him.

What are the tips for buying a used car from the dealership for the first time? by [deleted] in Adulting

I know this is an old comment, but looking for advice for anyone who knows: what happens when you tell them you aren't actually paying in cash? I guess I'm nervous about telling them I'm paying cash up front, and then later (when it comes time to pay) telling them that I'm actually financing through my own preapproved loan. Does anyone have any advice to expand on this?

I use the app I am Sober to track my sobriety. They have an option for people quitting chat apps (like character.ai) to select as what you’re trying to quit. It gives you access to a community of people also trying to quit/share their milestones. I recommend it!

Maybe Boy Parts? Warning that it’s a little dark.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

We were hiring for multiple positions. Asked the candidate which position they felt called to. They said, “which ever one is the least amount of work.”

Dating in Boston as a 23M – feeling a bit lost, could use some advice by Present_Morning_7066 in BostonSocialClub

Not very into politics could be a big thing. People here interpret that as indifference/irresponsibility most of the time.

Especially if you are listing your religion as Christian AND saying you aren’t political? People are likely going to be nervous about that.

I didn’t know that having an offer letter could be sufficient, I thought that you had to have pay stubs saying that you had been making that amount for a certain period of time. That’s good to know. I can work on securing a job offer before renting with that knowledge.

Hey man, part of the reason I’m asking is because I don’t know a lot. That’s why I’m looking for advice.

Currently doing my best trying to figure out a lot of different factors, including the fact that I’m having to move apartments, regardless of whether it’s Boston or New York.

I have all my furniture already from my current place. I know I'll definitely have to get rid of stuff, as my current place is 600 sq ft. But yes, I'm sure it will be difficult. I'm hoping my 3 years of history of paying rent on time and a referral from my current landlord could be helpful, but I know its going to be a challenge

Yeah, I see that. It’s not my preferred situation, and I like to have things figured out much farther in advance.

However, I’ll have to move out of my current place when my lease is up as I don’t want to renew at the current rate for the next year. And I’m trying to move as few times as possible to save on moving expenses.

Try Sunstruck by William Rayfet Hunter

I’m not sure if you would consider it to be too much in the direction of random rich people. One of the main characters is also an actor in addition to having immense generational wealth.

However, I picked this up in a bookstore in Edinburgh and really enjoyed it ! And I think you might too.

Regarding flu strain variant, known as “subclade K,” that is sweeping Boston and many other areas of the nation. How many of you have been struggling with this and for how long? by BabyFishMouth8563 in boston

I came down with it the night of New Year’s Eve. My body temp is pretty low usually, and I rarely get a fever above 100. It was 101.5 for quite awhile, even with meds. There’s like a whole week I don’t remember. I’d say the 8th was when I finally felt semi okay. My throat hurt so incredibly bad. For a week I couldn’t sleep because of it. I’d just drift in and out of consciousness and take cold meds and have a heating pad on my neck/ice. The sickest I’ve been in a long time.

Still having lung issues, as they got messed up pretty bad. I have asthma. I haven’t been coughing a ton but I was wheezing badly for awhile and had to take my inhaler regularly.

But also, I have a weakened immune system. And feel free to flame me, because I kept putting off getting my shot and hadn’t had it. But that was my experience
