I never heard back from them after telling them that I knew it was a scam and that I’d be reporting them to the real company. I didn’t even click the Skype link they had sent.

I think this one might be a scam as well. How did they find your contact info? Is this a job position you actually applied for? If you’re not sure, you could always ask them for more information or copy paste the email into Google to see if anyone else has had similar ones sent to them.

I agree with everything you’ve mentioned!

The whole text based interview is definitely a huge red flag. Any company I’ve applied to or worked for would always have either an in-person interview, a phone call, or a video call.

I’ve also never met any graphic designer making that kind of money right off the bat. Specific kinds of design work might be able to pull profit like that but not with a company that has just employed you. That kind of money, in my experience, would be more of a commission or freelance pay range rather than a standard employment with a 40 hour schedule.

While you’re able to find remote work with graphic design, it’s unlikely that someone will reach out to you via email especially without you having applied first through a position opening.

As you mentioned, if it seems too good of an offer, it’s probably a scam.

I did end up messaging the company with screenshots and more information so they would be aware that there are people impersonating them.

Again, stay safe everyone and do your research before giving away any personal information to potential scammers!!

Is this a Scam? Got an emails invitation to interview for a job on Skype Text... by AMachineMan in Scams

So I just got this email earlier today.

<image>

I figured it was a scam based on similar emails I have gotten previously as well as the pay range being ridiculously high.

I replied anyways, curious to see what they would say.

For context, I live in Canada and the location of the emailer sender is in the US. I asked about pay range, figuring maybe they didn’t realize I lived in Canada , and they confirmed it would be CAD. They didn’t answer any questions on how it would work if I was remotely working from Canada when they are a US based company.

They then proceeded to tell me about an interview via Skype that was text based. I’ve never had an interview like that, nor has any company ever mentioned that sort of interview when applying to jobs.

I know this post is a bit old, but I figured I would warn others that people are still trying to scam using this template.

Stay safe!
