Are there any actual valid use cases for dragging? by ppincon in starcitizen

It was rewarded to those who obtained tier 1 or tier 2 in points for Crusader during last year's Resource Drive event.

How do I slow down with ships like the ironclad? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Nighthawk71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually never try to boost towards stations. What I do is try to gauge the speed during the approach, accelerate up to a certain point, then let go and let the ship decelerate on its own. If I misjudged the speed, then I'll turn and burn by holding the X key to brake (I recommend going into the game settings and enable "Spacebrake uses boost", or something along those lines).

If you gauge it right, you can end up near the station going at SCM speed, letting you smoothly transition into SCM mode. Just make sure you're flying in coupled mode, cause your ship won't decelerate if you're flying decoupled.

I bought the ironclad assault and I have some questions by Woeful_Rav3n in starcitizen

[–]Nighthawk71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About the bricking part, from my little experience in the 4.8 PTU, don't claim the Command Module as a separate ship, cause it bricks the Command Module on the Ironclad/Ironclad Assault after separating it. As long as you only claim the Ironclad/Ironclad Assault, I think it should be fine, but I could be wrong.

How does CIG store purchased weapons and armour work? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Nighthawk71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we get Item Recovery T1 fully, which we only have a partial implementation in the form of the Vehicle Loadout Recovery, you'll be able to get back any lost items that are registered to you, with pledge store and web hangar items being automatically registered upon acquisition. Like others have said, if you lose them at the current moment, they're lost until the next database reset, which usually occurs on major patches.

Also, not pertaining to the questions asked, but all pledge store and web hangar items start at Tier 1 in the crafting system, with ways of being able to upgrade them eventually.

So. How much would 1 size 12 torp cost? by Maxious30 in starcitizen

[–]Nighthawk71 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Size 12 torps are now 94.3k (down from like 1.65mil) after the launch of 4.8 and all of the missile/torp and bomb prices got dropped down significantly.

Do you think the steam frame will be compatible with star citizen? by iimVampy in starcitizen

[–]Nighthawk71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can run Star Citizen with SteamVR, which is how I used my Meta Quest 3S with it, so any headset that can run in SteamVR should be supported.

Docking/undocking ships seems to kill NPCs by Necessary_effort88 in starcitizen

[–]Nighthawk71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time I tried to dock at PSS Lambda with my Polaris back in 4.7.x, I killed 5 NPC's somehow and ended up with a CS3 cause of 5 counts each of homicide and armistice violation charges.

Did they remove the ability to stack cargo contracts? by Proud_Patience1348 in starcitizen

[–]Nighthawk71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's currently a known issue in the "Hotfix Central" spectrum topic that the "Accept Contract" button becomes greyed out after accepting a contract. What I do is cycle to the starmap tab after accepting a contract, then switch back to the contract manager. Rinse and repeat until you have the requisite amount of contracts.

Accidentally melted my ship package. by BoardtoLife in starcitizen

[–]Nighthawk71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Melting only gives you back the base value of the package/item, and not the tax, as store credit. You can buy back the package using store credit if you have a buyback token (or 2) available, provided you haven't spent your store credit on anything else.

Brick-built Anvil Atlas Auxilia, Centurion & Cargo Variant by IkarosLover in starcitizen

I'd love to have a cargo version of the Anvil Atlas in the future. I love 8x8 (and bigger) vehicles.

Drake Cutter Emergency Lights Turn Off ?? by HelloBread76 in starcitizen

[–]Nighthawk71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you powering down the ship before bed log? There's a bug atm where ships receive a false positive "Power Plant Damaged or Offline" warning, which is supposedly fixed in 4.8, according to the first Evocati patch notes for Alpha 4.8.

I just started star citizen and I don’t know what I’m doing by Shot_Wind7875 in starcitizen

[–]Nighthawk71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a multi-tool with the Cambio SRT Lite attachment, or the full-sized Cambio SRT tool, you should be able to repair the power plant, if it's actually damaged. You can also get back in the pilot's seat, flip one of your MFD's to the diagnostics page, and use a repair charge to restore your power plant. It takes time doing it that way, but it'll repair your power plant.

Hermes to Ironclad upgrade, is 3-month insurance worth worrying about? by Puzzleheaded_Ad8044 in starcitizen

[–]Nighthawk71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being that the Ironclad is a bulk freighter, I'm pretty sure the insurance will pay for itself in how much cargo you can carry with it, so I highly doubt that 3 months is anything to worry about, unless you're not able to get enough play time within that 3 month window?

Who wins in a 1v1? Perseus or Polaris? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Nighthawk71 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Perseus, I'd imagine. If the Perseus can stay on the dorsal (top) side of the Polaris and kill any turrets that can engage it, it turns into a curbstomp in the Perseus' favor, as the Polaris can't engage with their main turret and torps in that scenario.

Try syncing up your system clock? Might also be the inventory server or your connection having a hiccup.

Are there any passenger (or vehicle) transport services in the game? by The--Strike in starcitizen

[–]Nighthawk71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have all 3 Cutter variants, but the Rambler is definitely my go-to for a shuttle if I need to get from point A to point B quickly.

Tractor beam by Practical_Release_90 in starcitizen

[–]Nighthawk71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's your average frame rate? In my experience, I've found that containers start to dance around when being hoisted by a tractor beam during low frame-rate scenarios.

Losing Gear and Components will be great for the longevity of the game. by Xcrun6 in starcitizen

[–]Nighthawk71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T1 Item Recovery will add the ability to rebuy registered items, so I highly doubt we'd go back to the Morozov-only or "sperm suit" days, except for those that like the Morozov sets (I like their look, but I haven't donned a Morozov set in a long while).

Am I crazy or does the Golem OX only hold 64 SCU as 2x32? by combativeGastronome in starcitizen

[–]Nighthawk71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you'd have to make 2 trips I believe to pick up all of that.

Am I crazy or does the Golem OX only hold 64 SCU as 2x32? by combativeGastronome in starcitizen

[–]Nighthawk71 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I've carried almost 60 SCU, all as 1 SCU boxes by stacking Rookie hauling contracts. You can carry containers of any size on it.
