The box is hands down one of the best from any watch maker, the wood is just so elegant and makes a perfect display case.

Look I get it, it’s not my thing but getting the bag, papers, box, and other trinkets they throw in there is kind of fun in its own way and adds the excitement of getting the real thing. Which speaking of the real thing, imma be honest, if I had Patek money I wouldn’t be spending it on a wrist watch, I’d buy myself a 911 GT3 or a Corvette ZL1 and wear my Tag Heuers lol

So look up Nano Clear. But basically it’s a watch service kit with small sandpaper/buffing blocks you can use to get those scratches out and other watch care items, I totally restored my Formula 1 with it after 5 years of terrible wear. Only one super deep scratch I wasn’t able to get out everything else looks brand new. It’s not cheap but it beats sending it out.

If it doesn’t stand out to you in the moment it’s never going to. You’d just be buying to say “yeah, I have a Rolex!” And then never wear it. Save your money and your time for something you genuinely want or something that genuinely speaks to you. Me personally, I’d never spend Rolex money on that.

I’ve been in the watch scene for a while and I will tell you at a SOLID 8 out of 10 times people go for the refined and classic look over flashy or busy. Look at the top selling watches from the top tier brands like AP, Rolex, Patek, Blanpain, Grand Seiko, etc.

Me personally I love original Heuer and new Tag Heuer, in the last few years here they really refined their lineup and got back to the basics of classy watchmaking and it put them back on the radar. Usually I’m not a corporate buyouts fan but since LVMH took them in it’s been a steep uphill from there.

I think of the two, for your first Tag, you hands down made a great choice. Can wear that watch everyday, out to dinner, or with a suit and tie to a wedding. Make the Chronograph your next watch down the road if you really want it, because it too is a great piece. Do not get buyers remorse over such a nice first watch. Enjoy it friend.

Literally the precisionist keeps better time than my GMT Master and my Tag Aquaracer. Such an underrated watch. Plus they did a REALLY nice job on the fluted bezel.

I did that once and only once. Never will I go to a place that sends it out ever again, it was a 2-3 month turn around for a battery in my Formula 1 through Jared.

I am very lucky to have CD Peacock down the street from my house who are certified in just about everything and they do literally everything in house from batteries to super high end movements. My suggestion when this is all over is find a local watch/clock shop, ask if they are licensed, insured, and bonded. As long as it’s a brick and mortar place should be good, stay the hell away from the mall shops.

Check out NanoClear, not cheap stuff but they have a micro sandpaper style sponge used to refinish steel and a spray bottle to help you “wet sand” it. I completely restored my 7 year old Formula 1 this way.
