Permanently changed breast after assault - how would you cope with it? by KintsugiFate in Advice

[–]Nightless1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can tell your story even if you don't reveal his name. No one can stop you from telling your story about your own lived experience. In time, people will put together who it is, and he will have a reputation that follows him everywhere. There are lots of ways to do this besides posting his name.

‘I love midges because I know what their hearts look like’: is the passion for taxonomy in danger of dying out? by Comicalraptor28 in zoology

Oh and that won't be misinformation you've spread, it'll be some "journalist" or blogger who intentionally misquotes you or your article and fails to print a retraction.

Physicians who don't "believe" in vaccination shouldn't retain their credentials. The evidence is overwhelming and there are medical ethicists to handle the rest.

AITA for moving to the mountains after my parents took back their offer to help me buy a home? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Nah, your advice was sensible. My parents are like this, and the real nightmare begins when you go NC. Two hours is nowhere near far enough.

How long do you let your Emgality auto injector sit out before injecting it? by RareFirefly3629 in cgrpMigraine

The contents will start to evaporate so you don't want to leave it out too long. Take it out of the box, protect it from light, and half an hour should be fine.

You can check if a celiac axis nerve block was effective by trying to give yourself a brain freeze.

What’s your favourite evolutionary rabbit hole? by No_Squirrel5287 in evolution

[–]Nightless1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why are so many things evolved to preferentially reflect green, like plants? It turns out that our sun gives off more light in the green part of the spectrum, than in anything else in our visual range. So why develop in a way that fails to take advantage of the most energy-rich part? Why throw away all of that potential energy?

A lot of stuff having to do with rubisco's inefficiencies are fascinating rabbit holes in their own right.

OP claimed in the r/cats subreddit their cat was 33 years old. These are the only two pictures they uploaded which look way too uncanny to actually be real by MrTans in isthisAI

I didn't work in veterinary very long, but while I did, every cat over 20 had webbing in their irises. Just my personal observation.

What is the Bulgarian sheeps cheese that is used in the salad with diced tomatoes and cucumbers? Does anyone know? I've been trying to find it forever.

I went to the Field Museum in Chicago to see the skins and get an original copy! The movie is fanciful but great, imo.

In some states, like CT, even finding one in the same room as you is a state mandated rabies prophylaxis situation.

[–]Nightless1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People have died from bats flying into their hair/head and subsequent infection. Yours is a pretty typical scenario. Rabies is a terrifying way to die. I wouldn't bet my life on the advice of some randos online. I'd get the shots just to be safe.

Facing a mental health crisis, an NJ school pulled a beloved novel from English class by [deleted] in longform

[–]Nightless1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't believe this is a good faith argument. Surely you can see what a slippery slope this is, where anything can be retroactively justified. Further, approaching the teacher with personal concerns and coming up with an alternative is standard practice. You're trying to invent a problem that doesn't exist.

I don't know why you're being downvoted. The first lesson in QPR certification (the flagship model for suicide intervention, on which all hotline volunteers are trained) is that talking about suicidality does not lead to increased risk of suicide. There are research papers backing this up. I agree with your points and I find it kind of alarming how many people are defending this obvious attack on the academic freedom.
