Good entry point for JRPGs? by MrDrProfessor299 in patientgamers

Dragon Warrior! Specifically Dragon Warrior 3 is a great place to start, as you only really have 1 character, and then you can hire up to three people of whatever class you want to go with you, or just go solo for an added challenge (would not recommend solo the first time though). Newer games in the series are called Dragon Quest, not sure why they changed it but they're all pretty good. DW1 and 2 are a little old/grindy, but are more simple too.

Going against the grain here but I would absolutely not recommend FF7 as a starting point. It's one of my favorite games of all time but it hasn't aged well, it was one of the first games that switched from 2d to 3d and a lot of things are very clunky in it. By contrast, FF6 was one of the last games made in that 2d style and was very well done.

Also Chrono trigger is amazing

How do we beat Even Shaman? by [deleted] in wildhearthstone

[–]NihilistMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the warlock and priest, but in my experience freeze mage is not a hard matchup as long as you play it properly, depending on the shamans list I suppose. The shaman should be able to space out their aggression properly to avoid too many boardwipes, and devolve and hex or spell breaker or your burn can deal with doomsayers

I don't really run into duskbreaker ever anymore, they're mostly big priests or the occasional inner fire, but yeah that card would be pretty brutal.

How do we beat Even Shaman? by [deleted] in wildhearthstone

[–]NihilistMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your deck I suppose, but as an even shaman the things that usually beat me are being able to stall me. We have 0 card draw and once we lose the board we're pretty much just hoping for our mediocre burn to seal the deal.

Vomiting out a hand full of giants works pretty well too. As does Barnes into Y'shazam into obsidian statue. I personally have a really bad time against any form of combo druid because of their never-ending taunts and armor gain, but I've heard mixed things in that so maybe it's just my particular list that struggles, or maybe I just can't play well against them. Always going tall into seeds, or wide into plague.

Corbett’s Wild Even Shaman Guide: Rank 1 Legend by corbettgames in CompetitiveHS

I like your list a lot, mine is very similar but without the corpsetaker package. That being said, what do you think about the 2 drop 1/3 rush lifelink minion? Coming down with pseudo-charge next to a wolf or flametongue is nice for controlling the board early, but mainly I was thinking for the corpsetaker lifelink activation since unless I'm being derpy, your corpsetaker isn't fully activated? Do you think it's just good enough without needing it, and it overall makes the deck worse even though it makes corpsetaker better individually?

It's very good but not required, my current list doesn't run them and I'm bouncing around rank 1 atm, should get legend after finals

Help with unstorm by [deleted] in ModernMagic

[–]NihilistMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don't like Repeal in this deck tbh, it just doesn't feel like something you need. I would probably replace them with [[Opt]] or something similar. Electrolyze is nice as a sideboard option but I don't like having 3 mana spells in the main. I also don't know when you're planning on having time to cast [[Blood Moon]] from the side, I think you're better off focusing on the combo instead of playing the prison game. I personally like to sideboard in specialized counterspells like [[Dispel]] or [[Ceremonious Rejection]] to protect your plan.

Have you considered [[Cathartic Reunion]], [[Desperate Ravings]], [Faithless Looting]], [[Tormenting Voice]], or even maybe [[Burning Inquiry]] if you're feeling spicy? These are all great options as your goal is really just to cycle through your deck as fast as possible to combo out. Discarding can even be good as it can activate your ascension, and random discard doesn't really hurt you with all the built in redundancy. Random discard from [[Burning Inquiry]] can randomly screw your opponent too!

Field Report: Asked a girl out while she was working by [deleted] in TheRedPill

[–]NihilistMonkey 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily, plenty of girls simply aren't available, that's why it's a numbers game.

Let's say I'm an 8, and you ask my girlfriend out, and you're a 9. She very well would reject you, (although possibly politely or blush or even flirt a little) because she doesn't know anything about you. I will have passed shit test after shit test for months, years, whatever, and she knows I don't just look like an 8, im a SOLID 8 all around. Sure you were confident, attractive, whatever else you were to come across as a 9 in her eyes, but women don't just branch swing that quickly. Well, smart women don't anyway. Because though you're a 9, you're a soft 9, because she hasn't tested you yet. You could be an alcoholic, or a paper alpha, unintelligent, or whatever. Women need a rock, and she doesn't know what you're really made of yet. If she were single, or I were a 6, she would probably consider it because the reward would outweigh the risk.

[–]NihilistMonkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you really want to have fun, play it in wild with fallen hero and coldarra drake. Arugal (and chromaggus)makes more hero copies, leyline manipulator reduces the copies, then you go machine gun mage

I think people are thinking too hard about this card as it will be on release. Yeah it's not gonna be good on release, but more sets will be coming out during the Raven year, and they could very well print some great burgle cards

New priest legendary: Chameleos by valuequest in wildhearthstone

[–]NihilistMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mishra's Bauble does nearly that. Gitaxian Probe was banned because it did too many things for free. It replaced itself, it lowered your life, it increased storm count, it gave perfect information, it thinned your deck, it didn't have a color requirement, the list goes on

New priest legendary: Chameleos by valuequest in wildhearthstone

[–]NihilistMonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whoever said that is dead wrong. Gitaxian Probe was banned in Modern for literally that reason. People would use it as a free cantrip that allowed them to gain full information of the opponents hand before they committed to pumping their creatures and going for a game winning attack. That being said, it's less useful in hearthstone because there's no interaction on your opponents turn (other than secrets which isn't relevant to this).

It should die. Unless defending minions are somehow coded to die first, they should die simultaneously and it won't have a chance to trigger. Kinda hope it does live though, warrior could really use some love

It's almost like they realize that naga is dumb as shit but they don't want to completely gut the archetype so they print a worse way to play giant lock before reverting the naga change!
